After my e92 M I couldn't go back to a non M vehicle due to the lack of diff or e-diff and the turn in response. That's my biggest fear putting an order for the 240i here, especially due to the lack of test vehicles. I do appreciate that BMW added an ediff to this vehicle and with this engine as I no longer want an S series engine that struggles to offer mpg required on those boring commutes. Also can the new owners advise how many miles they are getting on 1 tank as I noticed the fuel capacity is even smaller than my previous M2c. Last is the sport and sport plus steering, stiffer or less so than in the F8x M vehicles. I've seen some new owners say there's hardly any difference between comfort and the sports settings for steering where as in the F8x there was significant difference. |

Performance is comparable as well. Threw a JB4 on the 240 and it matches or beats the stg 1+ RS3. I also think it's better on the highway with the longer and wider wheelbase and track. The only 2 places I think the RS3 wins is: brakes, and seat. You can really feel the 240s weight when braking aggressively. She chonky! And the seat bolstering blows. It's comfy, but it doesn't hold you in. And 1 more complaint about the 240. They tuned out all the pops bangs and burbles. I dont want them to be obnoxious, but a pop or 2 wasn't hurting anyone! |

Congrats! That sounds like a very good deal. Your garage with a M5CS and M240 will look awfully nice!

I started wondering about 2 months into my wait if I would like or want the car. So first imo pictures of the car dont do it justice. I have a buddy that hated it when I first showed him and he has told me a couple times how good the car looks in person. My previous ride was a c7 corvette, I dont miss it aside from maybe the sound. The car drives great it's got great power and just feels really good. The car is great and well worth the wait.

Have had my M240i two months now - overall the package is great!
Engine - powerful for everyday use but does lack top end punch like others have noted - although this also means you’re over national speed limits in Aus/UK Transmission - silky smooth feels like I’m driving a lexus in Eco/Comfort but then really sporty in Sport Plus (not like a DCT). DCT downshifts are much more crisper Sound - very addictive - we have pops and crackles in our Aus spec so if you hit it to 5000RPM and let off theres pops and occassional crackle/bang from exhaust which is great 😊 Handling - you can feel the heaviness even in low speed turns but the rear bias on exit is fun! Suspension is comfortable though - only thing is a hollow noise coming from passenger rear which is affecting a lot of cars from different countries Brakes - pedal feel is shite and very low confidence compared to an RS3 Build Quality - the interior creaks and rattles a lot more than Audi’s I’ve had in the past. I think black piano trim in the centre console makes it worse. My passenger mirror has a foggy edge around it which i cant get rid of. Recently my front dash speaker starting buzzing it when I was in Sport Plus mode (active sound?) Overall, very happy with purchase although I also had an RS3 fully optioned for 10k below list price in Australia which I forego and now they aint taking orders 😵but we live and learn |

I take it through either the spray wash or no touch every weekend. Hand wash every other week when the weather is nice. Thoughts on a car bought for commuting:

Pics of my BG M240i for those waiting on theirs. Trust me you’ll love the colour it looks very nice. If you read the previous posts you’ll know the car drives great and it is well worth the wait!
I honestly love the car so much, from the exterior to the interior to everything. I could stare at that car for hours upon hours and not get bored. The car sounds great, the difference from comfort to sport plus in the exhaust is noticeable. There are pops and burbles which I love that are actually from the exhaust. It drives very smoothly even without the adaptive suspension and I have no back pain or complaints. Honestly glad I saved the money. The brakes are amazing they stop very smoothly. The tacora red on BG looks very nice in-person and all the black exterior contents contrast the BG very well. Now, let's talk about ID8. Firstly, I love the animation and sound when you first get into the car it's looks very nice and futuristic. I like the interface as well, only took me about 5-10 minutes to know where everything is. I also like the customization freedom with the system. There are only two things which I dislike but are not deal breakers include having to go into the climate menu, and sometimes the ID8 will lag when exiting a menu. Other than that I love the interface and the screen real estate. Also, that whole parking assistant plus EOP I don't think that was true as my car has the parking assistant plus package. I ordered every option on my car except adaptive suspension and M Track Package and I got everything, nothing was taken off, I even got my wireless charger. I have attached the exhaust video as well 😁 https://youtu.be/JKXa4FEvK9M Last edited by Brooklyn M240i; 01-21-2023 at 09:10 PM.. |

I took delivery of my 2023 M240i xDrive a month ago. In total I waited a little under 3 months and that was with with an allocation available. Overall I’m loving the car.
The Good: The B58 engine is a smooth torque monster, easily underaged at the factory. It feels like it’s pushing 400+ HP and TQ. The ZF 8-speed is dual clutch fast and without the clumsiness. XDrive just hooks up, no wheel spin. I’m not bothered to by iDrive 8. I quite like it, the screen is massive and hi-res. CarPlay is a humongous. Once you have your auto climate set and 8 shortcuts assigned, the system is quite easy to use. The Harmon Kardon system sounds really good. Thr underseat bass drivers are very efficient in delivery ample rattle-free bass and the Logic 7 surround mode widens the soundstage considerably The Bad: A few minor defects from the factory that were fixable by myself. I have the ZTK package which includes the fender extensions. One of them came misaligned from the factory causing a corner to protrude out a bit. I removed it and reapplied 3M VHB to fix this. I have squeaks coming from the driver side vent and a metallic rattle coming from the passenger side seatbelt assembly. I fixed them by jamming a piece of foam between the vent and the IDrive I screen and just buckling the passenger side seatbelt. The car is HEAVY, about 3850 lbs and you can feel the weight. The engines grunt and steering hide it well though. No feedback whatsoever from steering, very digital feeling however the car is very capable.
