Hello everybody,
I'm the lucky owner of a new BMW M2 G87.
I have my car since october 2023 and was very happy with the car but this afternoon, I had a very strange problem when I tried to put my automatic gearbox in first gear.
I could put it in that gear but when I pushed the throttle, the gearbox switched to P-mode.
I tried the rear gear, but once again, when pushing the throttle, the gearbox switched to P. I was unable to start driving.
I tried a copple of times and finally, after approximately 10 minutes, the gear stayed in first and I could drive away.
I'm afraid there is a serious problem with the gearbox.
Does anyone has an idea what this could be ? Something to be worried about ?
Now, this evening, I've tried several times but everything is working well again.

Was your driver's door closed all the way? If the door is not closed, it won't let you drive off.

My best guess as well. Wife’s Land Rover is same. Something was open.

I tried it out and yes, when the door is open, I can't drive away, the gearbox is always switching into P.
