I told my wife she can have ANY SUV she wants after I receive my M2. Little does she know “after" could mean... September?
I said I would teach her manual on my current car if she thinks she might want to drive it. I'm like "bruh, it's easy to learn"
(no I don't make a habit of calling her bruh.)

I'm thinking of switching to auto m2 and getting ct4v blackwing as the manual, it's probably better

PSA: if your wife can't drive a manual and demands she drive your car "in case of emergency", send her to a driving school to learn. It costs $250 at most.

Most likely don't have to deal with the sort of overwhelming, heavy and relentless traffic of the DC suburbs that you and I have to negotiate every day.

For the first 20 years of driving, I only bought manuals, but when I began commuting from Fairfax City to Bethesda, it became a dreaded chore.

The ZF8 in my M240i xDrive is wonderful. When you get on it in Sport+, it bangs gears and really lets you know what it's doing, it eliminates the detached, isolated feeling of most automatics. Put it in comfort and it's silky.

MT People

I chose manual because its not a commuter car.
That's what my 4runner is for. The M2 is strictly for driving pleasure..

A quick check shows manual driving schools in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. I didn't check other cities.

There would have to be an extinction level event before she could claim she needs my car for an emergency. I have AT LEAST a two if not three vehicle buffer zone before she would need mine (physically too, I let her park next to the house door on the other side of the garage) She likes driving my "roided" up wrangler with the top off anyways.
I would hide the M2 at Camp David before she drives my car in an "emergency"

The Brabham is probably easiest to steal by having four fit people put straps through the wheels and lift it up and carry it away.

My Caterham has a similar theft profile - no key, 540kg weight, a start sequence involving powering up the ECU, then waving an RFID tag in a specific area to disarm the ECU lock, then push the button to start after systems are energised. If someone knows the start sequence and has the tag, then they need to contend with a clutch with about triple the expected force and 25mm of useful travel.

If I have left the steering wheel on while parked and they manage to get it going, and they have narrow size 10 or less driving shoes (impossible to only operate one pedal at a time with normal shoes), then they will probably crash into the nearest wall after finding the cold un-assisted brakes need about the equivalent of their body weight to stop effectively.

I am very impressed with the M240i in sports plus mode. The transmission is fantastic. I also own a 6spd manual 330i ZHP optioned BMW so I am ok with the automatic in my 240i. However, I have thought about trading it in for an M2. However, the M240i is already pretty fast so I am torn at the moment.

Hi everyone! I made my order in December, finally went for the auto as here in Spain manual and auto has the same price.
Just sold after almost 2 years with it a GR Yaris (manual, of course), and before had a 2018 RS3.
In the m2 in my case y prefer the versatility of the auto as you can have 2 cars in one, relax auto mode or use the beatiful carbon paddle shifters.

Hello, another person also from Spain. I ordered the M2 precisely because of the manual transmission. For four adults and manual transmission there is no other option in the Spanish market. For two places there are more alternatives but every day less.

For me, a BMW M is a car for enjoyment, and for this a manual transmission prevails over the automatic, and more so thinking that soon all cars will be automatic and there will be no option to buy a manual.

For daily use , with high city traffic ratio , automatic is the choice , so for me will be Auto.

M240 vs M2 Manual

It all comes down to weather or not you miss rowing your own gears.
The M240 serves multiple purposes. I chose to have a dedicated vehicle for point a to b travel in any kind weather
in the form of my 4runner. If I want to drive just for the sake of driving I will have my manual M2.

This is why I have kept the 330i ZHP manual. She’s gives me that connectivity when I am looking for it.

But where the hell did this idea come from that the m2 is lighter than the m4?

F87 m2 was 1495kg (3296lbs) vs the F82 M4 was 1497kg (3300lbs), a whole 2kg (4lbs) lighter lol.

Meanwhile for the comps:

F87 m2c was 1550kg (3417lbs) and the F82 m4c was 1515kg (3340lbs), so the m2 was actually 35kg (77lbs) heavier!

(All weight figures from the direct press releases on press.bmwgroup.com)
