Anyone tried/achieved this......?

I've seen a mod which has caught my eye!

I'm really into this one and hopefully will be making a start on it soon.

Any one attempted or successfully accomplished it...? Please post pics if you have!

I believe it's also possible to change the trip computer screen in between the two dials..

Any 'in progress pics' ? Have you managed to get the clocks out? Needles off? Where did you get the SMD's?

One of my friend works for Beamer in Germany. He promised to source M3 white SMD's for me.
I am still waiting for my SMD's.
Once I get it, and get some time to work on it, will update you.

There was somebody who used to charge £50-70 to do this. (I was told by somebody who was selling his e90 and he had it done).

When you say M3 white SMD's are you referring to the genuine SMD's used by factory?

£50-£70 is a damn good price for this mod I reckons!

The guy who sold the car wasnt helpful and did not provide information about that person.

I'd be interested in these genuine SMB's. Can your friend get some more?

How many are needed to do the whole thing do you know?

The Vectra that blew up on me had a complete SMD conversion. I paid a guy £120 up in Milton Keynes to do it for me. I had the same colours as in your pic on the dials and red for the others barring a few radio/nav dials which were white.

It has to be done VERY carefully and if your not extremely good with a good quality soldering iron etc then it's not a job you should be doing.

If you guys want I'll ask him and see if he's willing to do it?

BUT on the other hand I think the Beemer interior lights are classy as fook and wouldn't change them as I honestly think it would make it look too cheap.

Did this on my 320d. Dash board is slightly different but I think it still looks good.

I will ask him.
He told me it is very hard to get them, as he has to source them directly from the company (who supplies it). As BMW sells only the cluster and not SMDs.

But plus point is, they will be quality SMD's and not cheapo and if anything happens, he can get the replacement.

I will ask him, if he can source both of you and we can split the bill.

I am not sure if any of you have looked at M3 cluster. Look at it and you will get what onetwentie is after.

I am not going to do LED conversion as it will look cheap. I want to do as it comes on M3 and hence getting OEM parts.

Spot on Mart. If you leave the LCD and do the dials, it looks standard like M3.

Mart Google M3 cluster and you will know what we are after.
In all honesty, I hate Orange colour display, and prefer Audi or VW interior lights.

I guess you can live with dull orange interior compared to dull driving experience (Audi/ VW). No offence to those who dirve these cars.

If I can manage what I am after, I may be able to do conversion for people on this forum with OEM SMD's and other stuff. I cant beat that price but will be reasonable.

I had my Vectra done by a guy called Daz somewhere in south Manchester. It was a few years ago but still got the mobile number if it helps

Stampede is great at what he does. He did my Astra and carried it looked amazing when finished. Pretty sure he said he could do almost any car, I would consider getting my BMW done by him if it's possible.

Couple of pics of my Astra.
