MPPK 2012 335i e93 - should I?
So I am looking for feedback from those of you that know aftermarket tunes as well as the M Performance Power Kit. My 335i has 83k miles, runs well, but is it advisable to tune MPPK this late in the game? I just added paddle shifters and am feeling the urge for more power (CA legal).

I put the M perf kit on my '11 e90. Really couldn't tell that much difference. Too expensive compared to what third-parties offer.

What are third party options in CA that I don’t need to modify a ton of parts on my car and also pass smog. I’ve been thinking of intercooler since the car seems to run much better around 240. Of course any part could be the culprit to why the car seems to lose a few horsepower when it hits 250+. It’s not too much but I notice. I have new water pump and thermostat.

I believe I spent $1100 getting the chip installed and coded. I can't recommend any other approach because I never looked into it. If I really wanted to add, say, 150 HP, I would start with some of the threads in this forum. The N55 is fairly easy to enhance, from what I have read, with changes to the intercooler, exhaust, and some software upgrades. You'll probably want a metal charge pipe, too, instead of the OEM plastic one that is prone to splitting even on a stock motor. I would guess there are vendors out there that have come up with solutions that also pass CA smog. |
