Clutch Replacement in Raleigh NC
I need to have my clutch replaced and am looking for shop recommendations. I'd really like to have this shop be my go-to shop for things outside of my skill and tool range. Has anyone done a clutch replacement? What prices should I expect?

Bimmer Performance Center is probably one of the best shops in the area, but they're not a whole lot cheaper than the dealer. I also used to go to Import Motor Werks in Cary when I lived in the Triangle. They're a bit cheaper than BPC and I've never had an issue, though I'm very specific with the front desk person and I call in a tech if it doesn't seem like they understand what I'm asking for. I don't think it'd be a problem for a clutch change, but for alignments I'm a bit particular. They also have loaners at IMW, which is nice.

I got a hold of BPC and got a quote. The price is not too bad - 1/2 the dealer. I really like that they specialize in BMWs as well. I think I'm going with them. Plus they're a bit closer to me also.

IMW used to be a BMW-only shop, the name escapes me now, it was 8 or 9 years ago. One of the coolest things that I liked about it was that you got old, well maintained BMWs as loaners. The first loaner I got was an E39 530i with 190k miles but it still drove tight and smooth, pretty awesome. |

Got my car back from BPC. I'm extremely impressed with the service. They knew how to solve every concern that I had. Everything went smoothly - no dreaded "Whoops, there's a huge issue" call in the middle of it. I asked them to inspect some specific parts for replacement and they were honest about each one - all the parts I asked about were good and they didn't try to get me to replace them.
I came in there looking for a clutch replacement and left exactly that. Really great work. |
