I like the G8x grill. It’s different and has a very aggressive and sinister look, especially when modded(lowered, front lip, etc.) I still like that the G87 has its own look but it would still look good with the kidney grill. It would look much better than this rendering.

I like the G87 front I’m a current owner - it’s more the back end that I find a touch questionable.
Agreed that the squares look like an afterthought.

What made you go from the G8X to the G87?

I understand why a lot of people don’t like the G8X, even still, but agreed that it can be made to look really good with the proper mods.

I change my cars way too frequent. It was mainly physical size of car I prefer a smaller car. G82 was a fab spec, carbon exterior and buckets, ect. I had come from R8 so obviously noticed a big difference lol. Then I placed an order for Lotus Emira but then didn’t take car just before delivery due to the massive issues Emira was experiencing coupled with terrible customer service. So anyway G87 is great size for UK 🇬🇧 and great Fun, but wish it had all the options that G82 has

I suspect this is how it was originally designed, but was quickly changed after the backlash from the m3/4.

I would have kept my F87C and not upgraded if I didn't like the way the G87 looked. Normally, the car is aggressive as hell without being over the top. I literally get compliments or thumbs up or kids pointing and dads nodding when I take the car out. I think the design here is too heavy in the front section of the vehicle and overephasizes it. It may work on a longer vehicle like the 3 or 4 series but doesn't on a 2.

Unlikely, as the on-the-road spy shots for the G87 early in 2021 had the "square" grilles, so bearing in mind the time needed for design and mould changes, it was likely the same design as we have now from at least sometime in 2020, earlier than any M3/4 or even significant G20 feedback.

Was it an old VW ad that said 'ugly is only skin deep'? The buck tooth design, and to some degree our G87 lego design is less attractive than some BMW designs. The overall proportions are the saving grace.

That’s a huge change from the R8.

I also looked into Lotuses multiple times over the years, but have never made the jump.

Can definitely also understand that the G87 is a great size for UK!
