Carly Issue?
Tried to use a friend of mines Carly programmer to turn in the side view mirrors upon locking door. Gives me a message that the FRM ECU has a critical failure. How in the world did that happen and how do I fix it? Just got the car in November so not really up to speed on al the features/quirks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So after searching on the net I found several posts about this on this forum....but its like reading a foreign language. Anyone repair these things cheap and quickly in Georgia? Think the JR guys can do this?

Did you try the coding with the car running?

I don't have any of the failures that ive been reading, just cant code the things i'm wanting to code. Think BMW will still replace it? And no the car wasn't on/running. Lesson learned.

Carly will refuse to code an FRM of certain vintages that were prone to bricking due to a problem with their flash memory boot sectors.
It throws an error if your FRM is affected by this problem and refuses to proceed. The issue is with the FRM itself. Carly errs on the side of caution. This problem is documented on their web site. Hopefully you used an updated version of Carly that includes FRM protection features. |

Remember though that there is a chance you'll brick your FRM by doing so. This particular issue seems to increase in probability the more times your vehicle is coded/modified/flashed or the firmware updated. You should first find out: What is your current Integration Level? How many times has your car's Integration been changed? Has your car been previously coded by anyone, including dealer/Indy, etc? There are reports of people bricking their affected FRM after ignoring the warnings. There are also others who have coded their affected FRMs on many occasions without issue. It is your decision. |

My FRM was bricked today with Carly.
2011 335i Pretty annoying but seems to be an FRM problem, Carly and other flashing / reading things just trigger it |

Yup, Gen2 wifi adaptor, and I updated the adaptor firmware the day before to code a friends M135i, I just wanted to see if there were any new options for my e92 and bam, FRM dead.
Latest iOS app version obviously.

quite possible.. BMW first step in troubleshooting FRM issues is to reprogram the module but if BMW is offering an extended warranty to replace the entire module is because they know the damn thing came with some sort of hardware defect.
