Hi Everyone,

Was wondering what forum members think the starting price of the new G87 is going to be. Seeing how the base M4 is $71,800 and the M4 Comp (non xDrive) is $74,700, I was thinking $60k base and $63k Comp is they have two variants like they do for the M3 and M4.

I know it is all speculation, but just wanted to get an idea what everyone else was thinking.

I think it'll start at 63,999 and go as high as you want

Low to Mid 60s would be my guess. Anything higher and you start to compete with the M3/M4.

I bet you will be able to spec it all the way out to 90K.

M3 is going up in price next year a lot so the g87 has plenty of room go up in price and not step on any toes. Between inflation and markups BMW wants more money.

Shoot, if the MSRP crosses 65k for a G87, I'm unfortunately going to look elsewhere for my next car.. That's the hardline I'm not crossing, regardless of specs, appearance or manual tranny availability..

Maybe a purple M240i or a Supra with the revised B58B30O1.. 😗

I like the small size of the Supra. Local dealer had one on the lot and I got to sit inside. I liked the tight interior. I am willing to go low $70s with the options I like. If it is more than that, then I think I will also look elsewhere. Looking for a small coupe. This and the Cayman are my two top choices.

With the base price of an M2C at just under $60K, I would assume the new G87 M2 will be in the low $60s plus options.

The Supra is certainly not my first (second or third or forth) choice but I believe Toyota would be a little more competitive and it sort of satisfy my every need - minus the manual transmission.. And it's basically a BMW in Toyota skin..

We'll see how it works out but the whole appeal of the M2 was its original low MSRP of 52k.. Times sure have changed.. 😙

Why a $70k loan? I would put money down and have a trade in also (hoping both would be about $40k).

I don't have my car anymore, I unfortunately lost it this summer in an accident..

I'm willing to throw down like $10,000 deposit but that would basically cover the taxes, at 8.65%.

Borrowing money now is cheap, I see some folks bragging about .9% APR but even at that, you are still looking at $1,200 or so payment, when you break down math at a 65k loan.

That's almost the cost of my mortgage, I may as well buy another house, at that kind of expense, instead of a depreciating asset.

Yeah, I hear you about the large car payment being almost as much as a mortgage...def right about that.

I noticed the .9% on some dealer websites but wasn't sure how amazing your credit score has to be. .9% would be awesome!!

Here the thread mentioning the .9% APR, you need a FICO Auto score of 740+ to qualify and that's if the dealer doesn't try to mark it up..

Glad to hear you are ok.

I got the score covered so that is a plus. I have seen that rate for certain CPO model years ('18 and '19 I think) with the stipulation you pay it off in 3 years.

I don't have a M240i. I ended up going the Tesla route, but wanted to get back into a fun ice car before they are all gone lol.

Starting saving money now for a downpayment on the next generation M2. The next generation M2 does not go into production until December 2022 so you have at least one full year to save more money.

Sorry to hear about that, Poochie. What matters most is that you managed to walk away unscathed - ok, losing a car sucks big time, but in the end its replaceable.

A motorcycle accident back in 2018: several bits and pieces broken (almost lost a leg) + 7 months of wheel chair and crutches. Helmet, gloves, jacket and boots saved me from worse: the road surface as 'bone breaker' and 'cheese slicer'. Quite sobering how simple things like normal walking suddenly becomes very valuable. No limping, but no running anymore + titanium screws and plates still manage to regularly set off alarm systems at the security check in airports.

Nobody knows. Normally more than an M240i and less than an M3/M4. And also depends on what's standard: what do you actually get for the G87 M2 base price without options ? Will most interesting goodies be optional ? By doing so, BMW could present an attractive base price.

Sorry to hear that the incident with the motorcycle still lingers, 'till today.

I remember when you had posted an update back then, I thought to myself that it wasn't that bad, even with the grim photos and all, you would of still eventually made a full, unscathed recovery.

Then later on you had informed me this was the reason you had to picked a DCT M2C vehicle over a manual and that gave me pause..

Now, 'screws and plates' makes it sound even more diar. 🙁

Nothing anyone can say can change what has already occurred and only you knows your true struggles but you sound like you're good peoples - so I sincerely hope that you have much better days ahead! 👏🏻

I recovered very well, given the circumstances. Surgeons are pleased with the results. My accident was indeed the main reason for switching from manual gearbox (M2) to M-DCT (M2C). No regrets. So far I did 42K kms with my M2C since picking it up in January 2020. Lots of Autobahn and 'spirited drives' in the mountains. Zero issues. Fringe benefit of M-DCT: on longer journeys I can stretch so now and then my right leg in the cavity next to the brake pedal where normally the clutch is located.
