Also agree with others, the m colors on the door cards is juvenile/cheap to me, and that's coming from someone in their late 20s.

All of these negative comments about the car, I don't get it. Looks are not as important to me as the performance. Let's talk about what we are getting. When the F87 was introduced, there was all of the anger about the non-M engine, no carbon roof, and no M mirrors (gasp)! You are getting a chassis that by all accounts has excellent handling. The S58 is one of the best engines ever made. It can easily put down an extra 100 HP with a simple tune, but you are already getting insane performance off the showroom floor. You can get a carbon roof now. The interior looks fantastic with the carbon seats, although the iD8 is a bit awkward. Most importantly, I can get a MANUAL! Yes, she has put on a few pounds, but the M2C is not exactly lithe. For those of you that like to stare at the car in the garage and wipe it down with a diaper every day, I can see that you are disappointed. But this is a very compelling car for those of us that plan to actually get out there and drive.

I'm new to BMWs so this video may have been seen by people here already but just discovered this while trying to wrap my head around the latest BMW designs... trying to fully buy in on the M240i design to order one and hanging in the G42/G87 section and found this video from a guy says use to be a BMW designer. Liked his M240i video too and I must be old school but I agree with him completely. BMW is taking basic design theory and decades or BMW design language and thrown it out the window with lines and shapes that don't make sense. Call it being bold and there is a chance that some designs will grow on people. But there are designers that will not age well at all but only time will tell.
People love to usher in that line, but it's biased in its reasoning and it suggests that people and their tastes are static. It's flawed, and it's not the first time a designer has said that and been proven wrong. BMW hasn't thrown anything out the window. Their designers and their ideas change right along with the people buying the cars. We aren't robots! In the late 1990's/early 2000's BMW was ridiculed heavily for having cars that all looked the same with no individual personality; commonly referred to as the "same sausage, different length" syndrome. No matter what they do, there will always be people who are dissatisfied.
Exactly! Why people want the same shit year on year on is beyond me. If you don't like it then don't f*♂️king buy it.

I will add if you need a wiping down car to stare at - Get a Ferrari of some 80's vintage. You can have all the curves and attention needed as the local turbo diesel wagon pushes you off the Autobahn.

I cant wait to get my M2. I dont care how bad it looks to others obsessed with staring at a car. Its for driving and in general a good driving machine leaves a larger smile as you actually drive than using a diaper later.

Not only that, but I think it looks a lot more ‘traditional BMW’ than the M3/4. At least they didn’t do the huge grills, Isn’t that a win?

When Frank removed the grill on the M240i, it sure does look like a Scion! I know others have said it but take a look!

Exactly! Hallelujah! THIS is truth.

PERFORMANCE will be spectacular, but 90% of the discussion these past few weeks has been on looks.

Let's talk handling!

Let's talk adaptive M Suspension.

Let's talk steering feel.

Let's talk braking.

Let's talk acceleration.

Let's talk about cats, coilovers, intakes, and tuning!

I do too. The E36 ///M3 is one boxy ass car. The new ///M2's lower rockers and fenders remind me of the E30 ///M3 Sport Evo.

We need to have a separate point system called Porsche Points. They are more aspirational and the next evolutionary step in the reputation point game for M owners. 1000 Bimmer Reputation points = 3 Porsche Points.

There ya go. It could - and should - have been 100-150 kilos lighter than the M3/4, in my opinion. The fact that its a few CMs shorter means nothing, that was just empty space and plastic.

It remains to be seen how it actually drives and handles, but the weight is a major disappointment to me, as are the brakes. Looks can be changed (front lip, rear diffuser, spoiler) and it'll probably be pretty cool. The rest, not so much.

Tell ya what - the rennlist bros are much more stingy with the appreciation button. They're a persnickety bunch. For me, at least, this forum is the best.

Let me guess, the rear brakes are too small

They work, could they look better, yes but they work. Guys wanna talk how it drives and all but focus on the rear caliper size and design..

I was hopeful on the new M2, but seeing tho whole new styling, exterior and interior, the ID8 DigiDash, I'm done with BMW and now I have left BMW, to my regrets I must admit.

I loved al my cars, but the way BMW are going is not my cup of tea anymore.

In stead I've bought Toyota GRY and have a 718 GT4RS on order, ETA april 2023

Of course I will follow al the BMW news on Bimmerpost.

I'm sure the new M2 wil be a good drivers car, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and beauty is what I sincerely do miss.

Let us all enjoy ICE while it lasts.

I don't understand the argument that it's all about performance and styling is irrelevant. If that were true the only way to go would be a GT4 RS and BMW would be out of customers. The last M2 is both beautiful and it's performance was savage (in a good way). Hey if the majority think that the new m2 is great all around more power to them and to bmw. 🤷*♂️

I know a lot of non-forum ppl who are waiting for the reveal with deposit already given and will be very happy with the car, pretty sure it's going to sell very very well now that the M3 and M4 have become so expensive.

Those saying looks don't matter is kind of a cop out. Sure, people compromise all the time but the vast majority of people don't want to drive an ugly car. To build a mini M4 with all the right parts and then fall down on styling is a big disappointment. The car will cost the same either way, and you want a car that looks good AND performs well. Doesn't mean they won't buy one anyway of course but that is still a compromise.

I for one had my shopping list down to 2 cars - base RWD 6MT G80 or the M2 so I had high hopes they'd come through. I'm still hopeful that in person the M2 will look good which was the same thing I experienced with the G80.

Some members mentioned they like the car more with te camo wrap on. I feel they same. From an abstract point of view, they aced the overall shape. But when the detail is turned on, there's much i dislike. Especially front and rear end design. Lights, front and back. Lack of color choice. Increased weight. Rear single floating caliper. No double clutch gearbox…But there's lots to like too. Engine, carbon roof. I really like the cabin design, bucket seats. And i bet it will drive great!

100% correct. Styling is definitely important...but not more important than the total sum. At the end end of the say it's a small(ish) BMW with an S58 and manual gearbox. That's why people are here.

I still think this car will look good with the promise of looking great with some mods.
