we are still a good 6 months away from first customer cars/dealer demos. The only cars until then are going to be pre production cars like this one in Melbourne at the moment. Remember most first orders will be dealer demos to exhibit the car, so not as many as you think. I would say its going to have similar waits to the M3 and M4 down in Aus, factory orders will be about 4-5 months (a bit shorter due to mexico vs germany production). If anyone is after an allocation in Australia, message me, can help.

If you look at this image - it does not look as pronounced as this in person.

The design element with the arrows is the part of the rear end i find is polarising. as the body work goes 3 different ways in that area. You can also see how they had to make that rear relfector beefier than the actual reflector to fit the sensor in.

Looks like the LMP1 from Lemans on the rear. Nice touch. I think this or GT4 for a track car. or i just go back to Birel ART, for the real thrill of racing. Decent car, hope the performance is there.

Kind of a less important question… I noticed on the front spy pic of the car with white/black camo the boxier front air intakes have a diagonal line whereas the leaked exposed pictures have a parallel line. Which is this coming with?

I cant be sure as i didnt pay enough attention to that, but parallel like the ZB leaked photo from memory.

It just looks like it has a body kit on it and not really in a good way. I will reserve judgement until I see it in person, but at least there is another manual car being made!

I actually think it needs a body kit - especially front end as the centre of the front end is actually quite a lot set back from colour side pods - a splitter would round out the front end nicely. The car will look mega with CF front splitter, side skirts, mirror caps and spacers.

Still trying to get my head around the lack of badges and single front lamps... not the end of the world but surely must be a reason why?

I think we're going to hear a lot about the designers using the 2002 concept as inspiration for the new M2. That car didnt have any side grills or badges either

Looking at it now having seen the M2 - the 2002 Concept looks pretty
"angular" to me.

Agreed. I also see a lot of e31 in that homage design.

Can you have the carbon buckets in cognac? Don’t know if I’ve seen this confirmed yet or not.

Looks that way - indicating even further that ICE is slowly being phased out. Hopefully the car makes its way up to Sydney, would love to see it in person before placing an order.

Thanks for the writeup, good stuff. I do like the bold stance and I think BMW will sell these like hotcakes.

Are the colors on the door cards standard/mandatory? I think that looks childish and terrible and definitely don't want that.

They are now mandatory on the G42 so I would imagine they'll be mandatory on the G87 as well

Great write up, by the way.
That's a good way to put it my guy. Hard to top the original Z3 M Coupe for road presence. Now these are flared, spinach-infused arches mayn!

As for the new M2, I'll wait until I see it in the flesh but I can safely say that the original M2 was much easier to warm up to.

No word on pricing - usually happens after launch with Australian BMWs. M3 Manual is approx 170k AUD in australia. Im going to guesstimate 140-150k AUD for the M2 Manual.

CF roof likely to be standard in australian M2s (Australian M models are normally heavily specced standard -eg on the M3 we get Heads up display, carbon fibre interior, 360 surround etc as standard as part of the local packaging - we also pay 180k AUD for them though!!)

No performance figures at all sorry. Guesstimate only - 0.2 seconds 0-100 higher than m3 manual. Find out in a few days...!
Those prices are insane. US buyers are very lucky.

Ugh. I wasn't looking for a miracle but I just can't get on board with any of those launch colors. Zandvoort Blue IMHO is in the bottom 5 of all BMW colors. The rest are all just meh. The best thing I saw for an improvement was the M240i post with the PPF of Brooklyn Grey. Hoping for individual but guessing not an option for some time.

I planned on doing Brooklyn Grey unless Isle of Man was somehow offered.

Super stoked! Can wait to see what Carbon bits will look like on the car as well! I plan on doing CF buckets and the Roof as well!

IOMG over Cognac would be awesome if offered as standard. Out of the standard colors said to be offered so far, I'd go AW like I had on my F87.
