So I´ll be the first. I have an excellent setup in my E90 and a few ideas to improve even further.
Headunit: Becker Traffic Pro High Speed CD/Radio Navigation (Indash 1DIN unit) Dension Ice-Link with IPod 4G Alpine PXA-H700 DSP 2 DLS Genesis Stereo 100 Amps 1 DLS Genesis Stereo 60 Amp 1 Sony XM-2020 Stereo Amp Front speaker setup: 5 inch Göhrlich Midrange in the doors run from one Stereo 100 Amp Polk MM3000 tweaters in the stock tweater location run from the Stereo 60 Amp factory rear full-range speakers in the parcel shelf run of the Sony Amp (hardly noticable volume, just to shift the soundstage forward a bit (yeah, I know, hard to grasp as a concept, but it works. I´ve got quite some delay on them through the DSP) factory 6 inch subs under the seats run of the second stereo 100 amp. I´t amazing how well they play for 40$ pos if you feed them some real power and give them some EQ. Setup as a fully active system. Full time allignement. RTA´d to linear sound reproduction. I quite happy. Given time (I´m currently on work overload), I´ll change the subs and do some more teaking (the Alpine DSP is really all you could ever whish for to tweak a well setup car), it´ll get even better. Plans: Change the 6 inch subs for the 8 .5 inch Logic 7 Subs. I allready have the replacement seat bolts and a torque wrench. Just haven´t gotten around to buying the subs yet. Before ordering my car I took a very thorough demo of the Logic7 and was amazed. It´s clearly one of the best factory systems around and I was tempted. But then, with nav only available with I-drive, I went looking at aftermarket nav and closely looking at the speaker locations I realized I could build a system even better than Logic 7 in the E90 with not too much effort. I even had the amps, a DSP and fitting speakers lying around so I ordered with euro-spec stock sound (business radio, full-range speakers all round) Pictures: Sorry, no time. Not much to see anyway. The speakers are in the factory location and the amps and DSP are in the extra compartment under the trunk floor. Not very nicely installed, just mechanically and electrically secure, no more - no show. There are pictures of the head-unit install though:

How did you solve it? Is there any link where I can buy the mask 1DIN unit? Thanks |
