Coding Guru Needed : No more DRL
Hi, I have an issue with my DRL.
I've put LCI headlight and LCI FRM in my pre-LCI car. There's probably a conflict somewhere, but where?! maybe some old halogen bulb ? No matter the DRL option I choose, nothing lights up and the angel eye flicker few times, then stop. Note : all module swaped worked before together, no code. In fact, I swapped the complete car ; CAS, cluster, FRM, DME, etc. |

What were the Pre-LCI lights and what are the new lights - halogen or xenon?
Are all the other modules that you swapped over working correctly and coded correctly to your car? Was the new FRM module coded correctly to the car, VIN was changed, etc? |

My pre-lci FRM need no coding, headlight was direct swap and DRL was working. Ive decided to swap FRM to figure out the adaptive issue I had with old FRM, turns out I have the same issue, very strange. My guess Im missing a wire. I have all the sensors, Ive swapped the front subframe. No VIN coding on the FRM. I ve literally swapped all my LCI stuff to my Pre-LCI. Engine, module, even the stereo and seats. Now, I only have issue with DRL. Almost there. Someone who changed the FRM can probably help if he got same issue. Note that everything else work, even the comfort access. |

First of all big respect for taking on such a big job!
If DRLs are the only issue right now, then i'd just read out the error codes and look at a few wiring diagrams to figure out what is missing or wrong. Since you swapped every module over from the LCI car, i don't think the FRM needs to be re-coded or software updated, although you could still try that as a last resort. If you need access to TIS and factory wiring diagrams shoot me an email at karledmnd@proton.me Best of luck with the build! |

tks, really wanted a E91 335 I read somewhere it might be the buldcheck conflict, since I still have halogen tail lights. But make almost no sense that would affect my LCI headlight with it own LCI FRM... Worst case right now is to put back the pre-LCI FRM, and hoping it wont break the comfort access. The only issue I had with pre-lci FRM, was the DRL was front AND back. Not a huge issue, but couldnt figure out why I had rear DRL too. |

I just have a idea.
I 'think' my headlight have been rewired by previous owner to have DRL angeleye... Can someone confirm me what this position lights up ? In my case, it lights up the angel eye on a LCI. |

That's the parking light position, it light's up the angel eyes on both lci and pre-lci cars. |

You can cut the 8 pin on the headlight and use it to connect the 7 PIN as the 8 pin on the LCi is empty and this cable will not be used anymore 7 pin on headlight socket i recommend you connect it to pin 1 on both headlight sockets For your 3 LED lights to work on the side of the eyebrow of the headlight, otherwise you will have to put cables from the headlight to the Footwell ( FRM ) Module in the compartment, I personally connected them that way and no problem. 11 Pin of the socket on both headlights you must disconnect it and connect it to pin 2 (Ground) on both headlights Summary: change two pins on the socket on both headlights PIN 7 ----------- PIN 1 PIN 11 -------- PIN 2 |

When the light position is 0 in my E90 LCI model, it's coded to have both DRL front and rear ON from the factory. (i.e. angel eyes in front and DRL rear lights) for Canadian models.
I hated that... |

Now, seems like I have tons of conflict because all my wires a messed up. Ill work on that next week. Seems pretty simple, but time consuming. And other 4-5 hours job added I wont put back the old FRM, simply because I just realized that the leveling was not working with old FRM and LCI headlight. |

FIXED : so yeah.
installing a AHL FRM + LCI headlight on a pre-LCI car works, BUT you wont have : - leveling - directional - angel eye as DRL (maybe, did not test everything to make it work) But angel eye should work if the '' side marker '' DRL option is selected instead of angel eye. did not try it before rewiring. I did end up rewiring anyway to have all the feature no errors, based on the link posted up. |
