I’ll be picking one up from you eventually. It’s not a matter of “if,” but “when”

I was just watching a video on YouTube regarding a guy that completely redid a totaled M5. When he was done, he took it to a dealership who checked everything out on video and the technician told him the BMW can track these modifications even if you remove them before taking it in for service. He said the dead giveaway was 100+ mph speed without the vehicle moving, i.e. the dyno. He actually showed the custom engine mapping warning on the screen.
Just food for thought if you’re worried about warranty issues. BMW does tracks everything. |

Running a dyno itself is not an issue, might imply something but not a dead give away. Depending on the tune used it can mean a warming, that would come from a g-power or other flash tune for sure… The most telling thing if someone is looking are the odd levels that are recorded, again not a total a ha but an indication something is up… |

Knock on wood had racechip for last two cars, never took it out but was hidden from view in engine bay, never had a problem and nobody noticed. But then again, never had any issues related to warranty only went in for scheduled maintenance.

Amen to that! You’ll probably have to remove that structural brace in the engine compartment. Have fun with that one.

Don’t get tricked by BMW putting O2 sensors plug next to it, which will fit to the RaceChip. Got 2 guys did that. Toasted the RaceChip.

That’s probably the sensor I was looking at which had pretty easy access. Will wait for instructions once XM label mapping done.

Because it has been the same on M5, M8, X3M/X4M, X5M/X6M, M3/M4. But, I don’t want to say 100% until I datalog it.

I’m really curious what the “actual” differences are between the XM and XM Label. It appears the XM Label’s engine has been factory tuned, so I’m even more curious about how the race chip will handle the differences.

Delta gain will be less on Comp or in the case Label. But, without a tune, Base is pretty much a detuned version. It like buying Windows OS Home version vs Pro version. Everything is in the package already, just locked away unless if you paid for the more expensive version.
