320D E91 N47 Engine Removal
Hi,
Hopefully someone has done this before but can't find many threads... I was trying to get the engine out and leave the box in situ but the bellhousing bolts are a pita to get to and the drivers side engine mount looks like it will foul the steering column when trying to move the engine forward to get off the box. Has anyone taken the engine out on its own and do you have any tips? I could take the drivers mount bracket off engine but still have the hassle of taking the bellhousing bolts out. If I take the engine and box out together (which I'm starting to think is the better approach) will it clear the radiator/bumper? Or how much more needs to come out - I'll be lifting it out with a crane. Thanks |

I've taken N47 18d engine and box out of a 1 series in one piece. Even managed to leave the AC loop intact. Wasn't fun, but it's possible. Didn't remove the radiator etc either.
