Misfire/Hiccup on Cold Idle

I've got a 2011 335D with 75k miles on it and it's started to shudder/misfire/whatever you want to call it on cold starts. There is no SES light, car is bone stock. It'll start right up, then the idle hunts up and down about 100rpm with there is a vibration through the car. As soon as you take off it will hiccup for the short drive out my neighborhood and then it clears right up and acts perfectly. I do note that low amounts of throttle input are more responsive than normal during this time. Any ideas?

scan it with bmwhat, i'm sure there is a code back there already. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say it's throttle/carbon buildup/injector issue

Could also be your glow plug controller. Those seem to lose communication rather easily in these cars.

Dealer said there were no codes and blamed it on carbon build up. Not covered by third party warranty.
So begins the adventure.

^What he says. I believe there was a similar thread in UK forums, and the guy's issue was fixed replacing the glow plugs and controller.

I'll search after work to see if there is a way to test them. Dealer has my car until Tuesday; I've called another dealership that seems much more willing to help me out. We will see what the next week brings.
