Cool, but I think Amazon would have done similarly, no? I mean, you’d probably have to buy a new part and then send the broken one back? Probably the same solution could have been applied here

Nope. Amazon would have send replacement and I could return broken within 30 days.

This is a smaller vendor though, right? (I've never heard of RW carbon)

Smaller companies aren't as financially capable of sending new stuff out with the assumption that they'll get the defective part back. I'd just do what you need to do to hopefully get a better part, ideally at the cost of less than a tank of gas, and don't do business with them again.

Amazon has ruined the perception of reasonable expectations for smaller businesses.

They're a chinese drop ship company. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to send a replacement in exchange for a defective item.

Huh, I wasn't even going to mention the 3/4" long scratch that the other one came with. PPF made it barely noticeable so I decided to live with it.

I really am trying to be a gracious customer.

Buy nice or buy twice - I’ve been told and I really believe now. Bought replica carbon stuff and have regretted them all. Im guessing all these places are just sourcing the same stuff from aliexpress as someone mentioned earlier?

I just installed Autotecknic CF mirror caps w/ sequential smoked out LEDs today and they fit horribly. Big gap at the top and a gap at the bottom of the LED because it doesn’t seat properly. Emailed them to return them and get a refund, I don’t even want an exchange. I’m just gonna bite the bullet and get the OEM caps later on unless someone knows of a vendor who makes a very good quality OEM replica because most of these places get them off AliExpress as mentioned.

One of the mirror caps arrived with a little piece broken.

It didn't seem to me that that piece would affect functionality, and that's what RW Carbon said, but still, it was broken (indicative of the quality it turns out), and they offered me 30 dollars to keep it which I agreed to.

They were right, it installed fine, and that broken piece doesn't affect the functionality. All good.

Here is that mirror cap when I finally got my car. Looks fine, right?

Then I started noticing a bulge on that cap.

I email them again, and this time someone texts me. Says "I see it all the time. Please re-install."

Ok, well, as you see above, there wasn't a bulge before, but sure, I can reinstall.

Here's what I found when I took it off, the cap was delaminating, so I text that photo back. But I also say I'm willing to try glue or something, and I did try 3M VHB tape, which did hold for a while.

Note, they never did respond to my text with this photo or VHB [...]
Yep… I got few pieces from RW for my F87 and the products are a lot less than ideal in terms of quality and fitment… then again they were much cheaper so you get what you pay for

I bought these, they fit perfect and no issues after 4ish months. They use the exact same branded/model# plastic bracing that is on the OEM black caps.

Couple of good options, I’ve heard of TRE but not Yaodechain. Looking at the Autotecknic/AliExpress caps I got, the clips were all glued onto the housing and they stuck on guide clips around the edges to fit them better but it didn’t work well at all. These 2 options look to be of better quality in terms of the interior and how they fasten to the side mirror housings.
