New M240i almost here!
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Long time lurker, first time poster. First time Bimmer owner (to-be) Had been in the market for the M2 for a little while, couldn't pull the trigger knowing I wouldn't be able to drive the car in the winter though.. Then I saw the announcement for the new G42 M240i.. At first I had some reservations about getting into a car with an Autobox, until I drove my neighbours 2020 340i, and realized that I need to grow up at some point, and stop being so picky Went to BMW and custom ordered the M240i back in Nov21, got a surprise call from my contact at BMW Wednesday saying the car has finally arrived and will be ready for pick up next week. Been so excited that I needed to share with people that care Car has a few options, not all, but I made sure to tick the most important box.. M Sport Pro package. If anyone could help me on best places for aftermarket BMW things, or any "must know" BMW things, please let me know. Really looking forward to being part of this cool community. Finally, here are some pics of my new future baby (Will post better ones once delivery has taken place) - Brooklyn Grey, BMW M240i w/ Blackout pack |

congrats! car sure looks nice! i'm jealous.. and amazed that someone can just order a car.. and just allow themselves to be happily surprised when it just shows up... feels a lot more healthy than my obsessive tracking on when my car will arrive.

Thanks!!
The honest truth is, when I went to BMW, I didn't expect to be able to order my own spec. I think I was early enough however, that the dealership just hadn't completed their own orders, and with a small deposit (refundable) was able to lock it in. I sort of forced myself to forget about the car so I wouldn't drive myself mad. Also reading of so many car delays in the industry in general. I didn't expect to get it before May/June. So definitely was a pleasant surprise when I got the call. |

Congrats on the new car. Visit the market place for vendors section for ideas of aftermarket items available. Spend time in the technical section to learn "must know" things. Enjoy the journey.

Congratulation for your car. We are in a similar situation. I was also cross shopping an M2C but decided on the M240 finally for same reason. I am on the north shore of Montreal and it looks like our cars may have traveled on the same boat as I got a call from my dealer this week that my car was in Canada and should be ready for delivery very soon.
I picked a Thundernight with M Pro pack and can't wait to drive it. Ordered it back in August when allocation were not yet available. |

Yeah.. Our winters make buying performance oriented cars way hard. That's super exciting! That TN is definitely going to stand out, such a unique colour. Maybe after deliveries, break-in period, and a bit of better weather, we link up and go on a small spirited drive around! Enjoy taking delivery!! |

Congrats! I bet you cannot wait until next week.
I'm a big fan of INDs painted reflectors. I'd look at rear spoiler options and perhaps an exhaust down the road. But for starters I'd just enjoy driving it as is! It looks like yours has Michelin PS4's on them. They're a great tire for the summer months, but they don't belong on ice!

Tints and the painted reflectors are an immediate must imo. I'm thinking of spacers after that. Cosmetic things like wings and lips, I'm going to wait a little as it's still relatively early, I feel like the marketplace for this car is going to wildly expand in the next year. Also thinking of waiting to get a little "bored" of the car before attempting actual mods. But you're spot on, love the suggestions! Yeah, definitely not ideal for ice, however the weather is quickly changing so hopefully I won't need to throw on winters for just a week |

I don't. That's why I'm really hoping this weather holds up. I'd rather wait until next winter before needing to do that. Ideally I'd like to go down a size for the winter tires but if I could get some free winters from the dealer though, I'll take the PS4S' and put them on a nicer set, and keep the current rims for winter.
The current rims are the ONLY thing I'm really not digging right now.. |

Oh I can see it on the first pic😱Hope it's not that. Anyway dealer will have to fix it if it's a chip. I personally love these wheels but this is personal taste. I am planning to buy another set of wheels same width for winter and autocross tires but haven't look into it yet. Will start by getting the car first.

Definitely looks like it could be. Tough to say with the quality of the pic though, could just be crud from the ice/snow it looks to be sitting in. I’d definitely take a close look at that during pick up and make them fix it if it is.

It's hard to say for sure, but in the first picture it looks like the rear suspension is still on blocks. It's not abnormal to be on blocks, but the front suspension looks like it's sitting at the normal ride height.
Just make sure you take a look and ask when you pick it up.

How does the 2 compare to the 3?

Funny enough, I've yet to drive the 2...
However, I enjoyed the ride so much in the 3, that I decided to order the car anyway. I expect the 2 to be a little more dynamic, given the slightly shorter wheelbase, and from what I understand a more rear bias tuned AWD system. I seriously can't wait to get behind the wheel next week. |

Let us know how it goes! I'd love to hear your perspective on this.
Is the 3 xDrive as well?
