Tuning
Will stage 1 power output end up being equivalent to a stage 1 tuned M3/M4? Or will the M2 still be lower output with a basic tune?

I assume you are comparing with base G80/82. Yes but the specifics depend on who is doing the tuning* and what other mods you have done or will be doing. *If you are talking about s piggyback, please disregard my response. That is not a true tune and I prefer not to comment further on them. |

Ok...key factors that I personally don't have answers to that may limit one way or the other are stock fuel pumps, exhausts and injectors on the G8X models (I am comoareibg base G80/82). More accurate answers should be available in the not so distant future... |

Not until people start posting dyno charts of the respective cars in question.

State 1 Tune that won't void BMW warranty
Can anyone recommend stage 1 ECU tune with the ability to set to bypass back OEM. On my F32 I have Dinantronics and can set from S1 to S4, or bypass and put back to OEM. When I take in for service, I always reset to bypass. Also, if you do an ECU tune, does BMW void warranty? years ago that's the only reason I got Dinan. Now it's owned by private equity and things have gone to shit.
My G87 order should go into production in September. FYI, with S4, Dinan replaced intercooler and big turbos. They said nothing of charge pipes. The OEM charge pipes on my F32 fell off, then finally cracked. Replaced with Evolution Raceworks Charge pipes.

If so, all tuners do that. the first map on every tuner is the stock map Your warranty is not affected by your tuner as long as you don't break anything. All your scheduled work will be serviced without any issues, all warranty repairs not related to your tuner will be done without any issues either. But don't expect the dealership to replace your engine if you have a tuner. That's why its important to choose a proven brand and the recommended maps only. Don't use an overly aggressive map, its not worth it.

All the compenents are identical between G80/82 Competition/CSL/CS and G87 (engine, injectors, HPFP, LPFP, turbos, camshafts, throttle body, coolers, pistons, conrods, gearbox, differential, etc) so the results should be the same

My M2 with a RaceChip and bolt-ons smoked a stock G80 last summer. I have that on video somewhere on my YouTube channel.
In February when I had my ecu unlocked and we tuned the car for e40, I managed to pull a 7.5s 60-130. Car definitely had more in it, but with remote tuning it was tough to do logs and get revisions, and by March I was already buying parts to add port injection. Once I had all the parts to add port injection, we saw 725whp and 700wtq on the dyno, but we were having some issues. The car was definitely capable of more, and right in line with what the other G chassis M cars make. Even with these issues we managed a 5.8s 60-130. Last Monday Mike Botti had the car on the dyno trying to tune it, because I abandoned remote tuning, but the issues I was experiencing were actually way more serious than the remote tuner was telling me. If I didn't push to have Mike Botti tune the car in person, it was a ticking time bomb. I can say with confidence that he saved my engine. Autocraft did me such a huge solid and went to CT, picked up the car, brought it to their shop, and spend the last week taking it apart and solving all the problems. They finished it last week and are bringing it back for Mike to tune on Monday. He mentioned that with my setup of the car didn't make 800 he's be disappointed and we might be able to push the 60-130 into the high 4s and run low 9s in quarter mile. All seems almost exactly in line with what the other G8x cars are doing. Even on the drag strip, S58AJ is pulling 1.3s 60's, so the AWD launch isn't even making that much of a difference as long as you're on a proper wheel and tire set up. Hope this helps! |

At that time it seemed like there weren’t many G87 specific tunes out there. For example, CarBahn apparently has a tune now. Even the JB4 you sell wasn’t specific to the G87, although a lot of people figured the M3/M4 JB4 would work on it.

Hey guys I just made my account to ask this question and I can't post a new thread yet so I'm hoping to get an answer here.
Is there a consensus on G87 power vs G80/82 Comp/CSL power when tuned yet? I have my ECU on the way to Femto right now. I'm doing the "Custom ROM" tune. I've got Titanium exhaust, catless DPs and a BMS Air Intake on it and I have no idea what power I'm going to be making after tune. |
