Do you tip your detailer?
Just wondering if you guys tip your detailer. Say it's $250, do you tip afterwards?

A 10% tip is always a nice gesture, especially if the guy is good. I think 10% is pretty standard for ANY non-food related services.

As long as the job is satisfactory then yeah maybe just an extra $20 or so is good.

makes no sense to tip the person if he works for himself...for food I can understand he works for a company and depends on tips but if he works for himself, he sets his own price and sometimes can overcharge if he wants..

All the time... I take $10 out of my wallet, and put it on the car and say "For such a fine job!"
And then I pick up my $10 tip, thank myself, and move on

I leave a cold one in the fridge for him. Then when I walk in and grab it, the wife asks what I'm doing, I tell her tipping the detail guy for such a good job. Sometimes my wife will leave me a homemade bowl of soup too

Do you tip your doctor for performing a service? No, you (or your health insurance or whatever) already paid him. Do you tip your cashier for checking you out at Best buy? No, he was just doing his job. If the detailer goes above and beyond what his job is then sure give him a tip. If the guy works late to get your car done so you can have it the next day, sure give him a tip. If he just does his job, no he's already getting a salary. |

I sure do! When I finish detailing my car I go straight to the fridge and tip myself a beer.
