I don't know where you all live that you are able to WOT and run 2nd and 3rd out, but I rarely get to the top of second.

Now that it is finally summer and I can drive more maybe I will build some confidence, but full throttle I am going so fast so quickly I hardly have time to process it.

Still haven't had the back step out much on me either in MDM yet.

most freeway onramps you can ring it out in 2nd all the way up to redline, I think it's only like 70 mph; 3rd on the otherhand... definitely need to hit a non-congested Mexican part of the freeway

Who buys a X3MC for the handling? That’s a people mover that can do the 1/4 in 11.7 and run over curbs, if needed.

Funny thing is it is pretty useless for carrying stuff. The 2024 X3MC has a 409kg payload compared with 455kg for the manual G87. Useful for carrying a few not-so-heavy people and party helium balloons. If you fit 19" wheels it may go over a few curbs without damage, but stock wheels and suspension is just as vulnerable as the G87, considering it is the same platform underneath.

My back-to-back experience with both is that the X3MC brakes definitely fade fast on track with the 20% higher weight than the G87 and same brakes, and it feels quite tippy in the corners due to the high CoG.

Payload? I’m not carry rocks in it. It’s a hatch with a ton more vertical space. 56.5 cubic feet vs 19 in the G87 is a big difference. We only have one kid and it fits all his stuff and my wife’s perfectly, which is a lot of s**t btw. I do wish I got a X5MC, but at the time I felt that’s too big of a vehicle. 735M wheels are forged vs the G87 cast wheels so will handle a lot more curbs before bending.
If I’m going for a ‘drive’ I don’t take the X3MC. That’s what my 992 911T is for. That thing is a scapel at 3200lbs with RAS.

The base Caterham isn't anything like the top spec models in performance, a bit like comparing a 4-cylinder Macan with a GT3 RS, although the base level Caterham still has better road feel than pretty well any other car on the road. My 2012 car to R500 spec is 212WHP measured in 4th gear (about 260bhp at the crank), 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds and rev limited to 8300RPM at the moment at 147mph (engine forged internals are built to take 9000RPM, so 160mph top speed if I put the limiter to that RPM).

Caterham is much more visceral on the track than any stock Porsche. 718 Cayman GT4 RS that another member of our track club has is less involving and less fun than my Caterham, feels heavy in comparison, even though the power to weight ratio of the cars is similar.
