2A7A WONT GO AWAY!
Hey dudes
2A7A - DME: Camshaft position controller, exhaust, cold start. On cold starts, after a few seconds the engine light comes on, after a few more seconds the idle goes up to around 1100-1200 RPM, and then goes down to normal, with a CEL. When scanned, I get 2A7A and a 3100 that follows. I bought new Vanos solenoids from DORMAN and they didn’t fix it, I cleaned and swapped the camshaft position sensors and it stayed on exhaust. I went to a nearby junkyard and picked up 2 oem used Vanos solenoids and 2 oem used camshaft position sensors, put them in and reset adaptations for both and still the same code. I’m assuming it’s my cam ledge bearings… |

Make sure you try the steps in this service bulletin, although it does not list 2A7A. My 2A87 code was boost solenoids, not ledges.

Also go return those Dorman solenoids and NEVER allow another Dorman product to touch a BMW. They make the biggest junk known to mankind.
Its possible the Dorman solenoids are actually causing more issues than they fixed right from the start. You are better off going with a used OE 200K mile Solenoid. |
