An M2 is not the highest tier of any M car. Lol. Not even top 5 in cost for BMWs. Even a base X5 is more money than an M2. And the M8 Comp goes to 170k.

Polo08816 should have the exact number but an S58 runs in the 35k ballpark. you are paying for the M motor, M chassis, M driving experience... and thats it, really. some niceties are included because BMW. if thats not where you want to put your money, park it somewhere else. maybe a nice lexus will have all the features you want?

Not trying to be a jerk but did you look into anything about the M2 before putting an order in? Or have you put an order in?

I ask because $60k to $70k is a lot of money and to put that kind of money down on anything without knowing anything about it is rather questionable thinking.

Lexus RC 350. Its a coupe, has a lot of the things he wants, and in the price range he is paying for an M2...heck might even be cheaper.

I was debating between a used C8 , Supra , used 8 series, 240i, M2, 440i, used Audi RS5, Mercedes E class / CLE.

They all have things that I like and dont like ( Supra and C8 don't have ambient lighting for example)

I picked the M2 because I thought it was the best bang for buck. A almost fully optioned new M2 is around the same price of a used fairly option C8 for example. The CLE is 60-70k for a 263HP 4 cylinder....

Im done ranting now, I was just disappointed.

i was thinking an IS500 or used RC F, but yeah. the IS500 is a compelling package at the price if you can get over the weird ergos and the lackluster transmission. RC F is better than people give it credit for, its just not an M4 competitor in anything but price.

it IS the best bang for your buck if you love to drive. but these are basic points you could pick up from scanning the spec sheet on the website. it sounds like you are way more hung up on minor features (who gives a shit about ambient lighting?) and details than how the car will perform/driving experience. this is my first BMW as well.

I feel like everyone is misinterpreting this.

The M2 is the highest tier of the 2 series and it doesn't have the options lesser 2 series cars have. The M3 and M4 don't work this way, but the M2 does.

I think it's stupid too but with what you get for the money with the M2, I'm sure this is just BMW's way to differentiate the M2 and M4 otherwise the M4 would be a bad value. If you had a full merino option and ventilated seats in the M2, what purpose does the M4 serve? Roomier backseats for an extra $30K?

You never know, they could add some features back in. I think the leather quality differences are fine. BMW doesn't give you good options in the Z4 either. The only option I wish the M2 had was surround view. Well, that and xDrive which it might be getting in a few years anyway (and if that happens I'll be putting my order in).

Yeah, I like coupes so the IS500 would not be for me. I agree with the RC F but new that can get up to $100k. Seemed like Joker is looking at the $60 to $70k mark. Also agree that it is a very nice car. The interior is really nice but, yeah, not at the M4 level when it comes to performance...too heavy.

I missed the "used" RC F. Yeah if he could find one in his price point used (CPO preferred) that would work for him.

It’s time you realize a BMW isn’t the car for you. Buy the more expensive Hyundai with more features.
