Heard back from the dealership today. They will need to replace the entire headlight assembly. They were quite speedy on getting back to me. Good service.

Update FWIW. We finally had some sun yesterday and this cleared all of the moisture out of the LH headlamp. No obvious signs I could see that it was ever there.

That's because it is not a serviceable item (doesn't break down to seperate components) - the fix has always been (when BMW OK the warranty work) to replace the headlamp assembly.

Makes sense. I saw a single used headlight on ebay for more than a thousand dollars. Yikes.

1481 GBP so that sounds about right.

Top tip - you don’t want to break your wing mirror glass either $$$$

PS. Confirmed a new headlamp is with the parts department and getting fitted on Monday.

My car was in today for RHS headlight replacement.

Technician reported…”headlight replaced due to condensation”.
Very helpful.

They also managed to brick my head unit when doing the reprogramming so the car will be away for another day until they can work out how to unlock it all.

Anyway, one bit of info that was interesting is the guy who collected my car said there is a moisture release valve or vent on the lights to , designed by Volvo. Then he added, it’s always been a bit problematic.

Why do they have to reprogram to replace a light?

I think it’s to do with the adaptive light system.

I had my headlights replaced today after a 4 week wait because the parts were on back order. The tech noted and provided a video showing cracks in the housing by the retaining screws for bulb access. Hopefully the new lights won't develop the same cracks.

If this were not a warranty repair, I could see removing the lights and epoxying the crack in the housing.

Both headlights changed yesterday. Zero scratches or damage to bodywork or bumper. Customer facing service guy said BMW are getting some heat for this issue, early replacements were still failing, but recent ones havent came back. Part number is the same but doesnt mean that changes haven't been made to the design. Overall a good experience and took around 4 hours. So far no condensation, but its early days.

This happened to mine as well (about 7 months old), my dealership covered it under warranty.

I’ll save everyone the pain of looking at a hideous x6 and say just jump to 2:22. That headlight condensation is “normal”. However, I agree with Matt, it’s not a good look, but that would clear.

Can you believe my Mrs straight up told me to buy the X6 instead of the M240i because she saw a used one in the show room!
I didn’t listen
She’s not my GF anymore 😂

Ugh don’t say that. While I like the idea of using the warranty, I don’t like the idea that these very important parts are failing so quickly.
Hopefully this replacement last much longer.

After the pass side replacement on my daughter's, literally within a day it rained again, now the driver side showed condensation. Called up SA and he said BMW does want to perform inspection, so another trip in to "look" at it, then wait 1 month for replacement parts.

Not fun. OTOH, my Dec 2023 built G87 is holding up, knock on wood.

I hope so too. Last year I had to wait for almost a month before the headlight was replaced. This time around it was just 1 week
