2010 E93 N54 Cranks, no start. K-can fault. Only JBBF communicating in INPA. No ISTA+
Past five years some forum has always had the answer. Now two months downtime on this round and I’m stumped so
Washed car, before moving to interior thought I’d look into the iDrive, which had stopped working the day prior. Found fuse F27 blown and replaced. Blows immediately. Remove keys and replace again, same deal. Disconnect battery, replace, reconnect and appears good so move on. A few seconds later I duck in to grab a towel and see smoke curling up from JB area. Immediately moved to disconnect battery in trunk. Turns out last fuse wasn’t a 5A but a 25A. At that time saw no indication of what was smoking. I pulled the fuse, reconnected battery, and so begins crank so start condition. My laptop and DCAN being with me, I pull up ISTA+ which says vehicle cannot be identified. INPA connects, but only communication is with JBBF. Cleared codes and here’s what came back: C907 K-Can Communication C91E K-Can Failure C90B Communication PT-CAN A6E5 Sensor tank right Also terminal 15 had become “always on” even with no key slotted. FRM gets bricked after voltage inevitably drops. I’m on first name basis with roadside assistance. Turns out wires on the X11001 connector have melted and fused in a couple spots. DSC wire appears as bare copper strand. I run new DSC wire and replace and melted sections, checking for end to end continuity, shorts to power, and shorts to ground. All good. Still crank no start, still no communication with anything other than JBE. No locks and no rear windows made me think JBE may need replacement. eBay sends a JBBF FRIII H3 in two days. So next issue. I program new JBE with WinKFP Comfort Mode, but how can I code without anything to pull VO from in NCS Expert? Another user seemed to have similar issue (only comms with JBE) and resolved by programming and coding a replacement. But how?? https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1431743 Anyhow terminal 15 always on is resolved. K6300 relay starts working and always on water pump (from earlier experiments jumping K6300) goes away. Still no fuel pump priming although it can be jumped at the pump. Replaced JB with a spare from another e90 owner. No change. Removed CAS and DME and plugged into said e90. Was able to read and clear faults on all modules. Reset the CAS and returned to my car. Same issues and error codes persist. No comms except JBBF, crank no start, & Canbus faults. Thought I’d see if anyone has any ideas before I tear any more hair out. |
