So guys, we gonna try and set this up? For those that don't know what this is, here is the link
http://www.bandimere.com/events/even...ate=08/01/2008 I have not run my car and Bandimere yet, so I really want to get over there. Might try and pull some others into this as well. |

I'm 100% in racey... I went up there with jtmccabe first of the year and it was cold and I'm hoping the heat these days will allow for better a better launch. You will have a good time. PM me and we can exchange mobile numbers to meet up. Tell anyone you know to head up if they are interested too, BMW or other...

BTW, anyone going tonight will need a helmet if they think there car will be <13.99sec in the 1/4mile (which most of us 335i guys should be with a decent launch). You can rent them at the track. I might also try to borrow a couple from a buddy of mine (who might also be coming).

Badimere Drag Times
Had a great time tonight, was a little busy and I got there late, so only got 3 runs in, but at least I improved each time. Traction was OK, but not great. Was my first time running any car at the drags, and definitely was fun.
One incident on the 2nd run where I threw a yellow CEL (limp mode) at the end of the track...you can see it reflected in the numbers too, because I was ahead of my 3rd run the whole race, but still ended up slower at the end. Car still drove, just opened up the wastegates to effectively shut off the turbos. Let car sit for a bit, restarted, and never had another problem. Going to Autozone tomorrow to get the code read and see what happened. Anyway, here are my times...remember, the elevation of Bandimere is 5860 ft above sea level. Oh, and btw, the guy in the other lane on race 2 was my buddy in his manual E39 540i EDIT: I also weighed my car, 3705lbs with 1/2 tank gas and me in it. Nice runs Racey... Best I could muster last night was a 14.002 at 100mph.
It's weird as I was able to pull a 13.7 at 101 earlier in the year. I guess the heat just didn't agree with my car last night. I weighed my car too, 3950 right on the mark. 3/4 tank and me in it (and a set of golf clubs). Damn AWD is heavy |

Yeah, BMW rates the XI as being about 190lbs heavier than the I. I think with a proper launch I should be able to get to 13.7 or there abouts too. Everyone I talked to was having problems with traction though. A guy with a 90's Camaro Z28 on spray next to me couldn't even beat my time because he was just spinning the whole time.

Racey, are you stock? I've never been able to break 14 seconds at Bandimere with the Dinan S2 tune. My best run out of six was 14.2@102. I never felt like I got a great launch, but still...

JB1 and Logic HVI (Intake). With 102mph and 14.2, your launches were probably not great. And also remember guys, I am AT, so launches for me come a little easier. I did find that I need to manually shift before redline to get the best times. Running the car to redline gave me the 14.2, where when I shifted at 5500-6000 RPM gave me the 13.9. The ET mph # is more representative of your HP, where the 1/4mile time represents more your launch.
Your 60' times are the real indicator of your launch, the really good launches should be getting ~1.8s or below, where I was getting ~2.2s. Still have some work to do on the launch, but all in all I think it went pretty well for my first time out. |

I know my launches haven't been great. I think my 60' times were usually around 2.5s or so. My first day was with forza when I couldn't hook up at all because of the cold. My second day the traction was much better but I wasn't launching aggressively enough because I was afraid of fishtailing like I did the first time. Definitely need to give it another try one of these days.
