First kill in the F80...
Unfortunately, it was a beautiful male Cardinal, that tried to make it across the road right in front of me. Why he didn't just fly over the car beats the hell out of me, as he came swooping down from a tree on the left side of the road. No damage at all to the car.
I must be an animal magnet. Tally so far: 1987 Mustang GT - Crow in front grill at 70 MPH - $45 in damage 2002 Mini Cooper S - Giant Connecticut Raccoon. 2k in damage 2008 STI with just 700 miles on it - 6 point buck. $14k in damage 2010 E90 M3 - Dog chasing a truck at 5:00 AM on a dark winter morning, just a glancing blow. $900.00 2015 F80 M3 - Cardinal - Zero damage. Oh yeah, sorry if you expecting a F80 vs. * kill story.

This happened to me twice on the same stretch of road in the UK on separate occasions. I have definitely observed sparrows 'racing' and playing chicken with cars in the past in many different places. I guess sometimes they misjudge...both times I was going much faster than most people would go down that road. Both times the same thing, swooped down from a tree on the right, straight into the center of my windshield....boing. No damage.
Dem daredevil birds yo...

I remember when I was in HS, we were driving home in my buddies '98 Chevy Malibu and this Canadian Goose literally flew and stopped right in the middle of the lane. Before he had a chance to get out of the way, there was this ginormous explosion of feathers all over the place. It literally looked like we stuck a handful of M80's in a stack of feather pillows.
I laughed, but it was a tragic death to say the least. Also, Malibu's have pretty sturdy front bumper supports if anyone was curious. |

I stopped counting at 65 kills during my time commuting back and forth to U of I (110 miles r/t). Blasting up the backroads at speed would result in bird kills quite often. One unfortunate pigeon flew up from the ditch right in front of my driver's side mirror. Knocked the glass out of it and slammed it against the window. I was able to back up to the pile of feathers and find the glass intact. It popped right back in. I pulled many birds out of the kidney grills. Add in a few squirrels and my record is not animal friendly. Now that I have a 4 mile r/t commute, the birds of IL are much safer.

I once hit a bat, hand to God. Spread eagle on my windshield in my neighborhood. It was sad because I really like watching them catch mosquitoes at dusk.

My car has killed my favorite pair of heels (yes, I admit running over them, and leaving them on the garage floor) damage: Ego in bits, 150 bucks for a new pair of shoes I don't ever wear since they are too high for driving. My only thought when I heard the sound was dear coffee I hope my lip didn't do that sound. My wallet. Turns out M4 is not a car to buy if you like money.

Bats are awesome, if you have them in your neighbourhood, try this at just after dusk...go lay down on your lawn or in an open area where they hunt, looking up...
They will swoop to within milimeters of your face to get a good smell of you. Its awesome, you can only hear them when they are almost touching you, such amazing animals.

I actually hit a crow when I was originally test driving a M235i. Stupid thing flew right into my driver's side mirror and hit it hard enough to knock the mirror out of the housing. Thankfully the wires kept it dangling from the housing and not smashed to pieces on the pavement. Popped right back in, so I didn't have any explaining to do back at the dealership.

I don't know why so many of the F80 post threads end up down here but I think the mods want to keep that forum cleaner than most others since its a new car
On topic, I have 2 deers on my list... luckily I walked away fine and so did my cars... the deers not so much. |

Took out a family of raccoons crossing the road, $1800 damage to the bumper.
I am now convinced cars hitting squirrels is part of the natural selection process. Most times if a squirrels would just go straight across the road they would make it without issue, but they become very indecisive stop and then can not figure out which way to go, then finally get hit. every once in a while a squirrel just goes straight across and avoids being hit all together. Eventually cars will wipe out all the indecisive ones and only the smart one will survive. |

You need a few deciliters of red wine, salt, pepper, and cream and the deer will be fine too. Next time pm me and all damage will be fixed.

Wow, I'll go fix the post. I wouldn't want to change our record.

Had one fly right into my forehead once while we were out walking the neighborhood. Hit me right in the eyebrow. I immediately went home and did a detailed inspect looking for the slightest break in my skin. Bats are notorious for having rabies. Luckily there was no damage to me. Not so sure about the bat.

Yes, please. My Lups translator app is almost done, and I'm hoping to make enough money off of it to buy another M3 for cash.
