Spare Wheel

How many of you guys have bought the space saver spare wheel

I've bought the one in the bag and it takes up space in the boot when travelling with luggage. Tried placing it under the carpet in the boot but doesn't fit. Any ideas??

Also, under the carpet in the boot, I found a wiring. the end is covered in a velcro bag. Has a buch of connectors etc on the ends. whats this for...

The wires are the harness for the factory amps if you have the Logic 7 sound system. If you lift up the plastic container on the left behind the wheel arch you will find a second harness for the CD changer and the second amp for the subs.

The harness is a PnP harness, but if you have the standard Professional radio, it will have to be reprogrammed to accept amplification for the speakers. Only if you have the Logic 7 can you replace the existing amps with aftermarket units.
Your car looks very familiar, do you work at CHB?

Spare Wheel

Older models where the mag wheel versions came with a space-saver and the steel wheel ones came with a full size steel spare had a "podium" or "bandstand" in the boot where the wheel poked up through the floor, and the carpet was made to cover it. You might need to make something like this. Spare wheels are supposed to secured by a mounting bracket or device for RWC, as they can become a projectile in an accident. Im not sure anyone makes one for the inside of a subaru, although I have seen externally mounted spare wheel carriers (swing away) on them.
