The problem is that many times you must be in their state, as they won't sell at MSRP out of state. People were buying cars out of state at MSRP then selling them to CarMax at $5K over.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I remember trying to get my '18 for MSRP in '18, fat chance. They wanted $10K over. Even in 2019 they wanted $5K over, so I had to buy used in late 2020. That was pre-pandemic.

The whole BMW price thing is out of control, and the pandemic/shortages have just made buying a new performance-oriented BMW literally crazy now.

In LA (no surprise), some dealers still had a $10M -$15K mark up on the M2 towards the end of 2017. Insane.

Shop around and it's really not an issue.

Lol i had one dealer in OC want $5k markup for my 135i back in the day. I chuckled and left pretty shortly after. Just ordered from another place.

My wife is taking delivery of a Jetta GLI in the next couple of weeks, been waiting about 6 months. MSRP plus the dealer will grant $500 discount for VW's "partner program", which they aren't even required to participate in. This is a Penske-owned dealership and last I heard, it was company policy to not exceed MSRP - not sure if this is still true across the whole company.
I am on the waitlist at my dealer and will have #2 allocation. They confirmed it will be MSRP.

Yeah definitely not lol. Where did you get those "numbers"?
Most people I've spoken to hate how the new 2-series looks, and are not interested in the G87.

As long as there's that one person who will pay it, they'll charge it. Personally, I'm never first in line to buy anything unless I need toilet paper during a pandemic.
Oh, you were *that* guy 🤣

Only messing!

Allocations begin in December but looks like it'll be similar to the F87, with cars being over MSRP until the 3rd year of production at the least.

Nothing has confirmed December yet but I'm sure it'll be around there.

There were plenty of F87 M2's sold at MSRP the entire lifespan. Maybe not those sitting on the lot seeking a profit. You just need to know how to shop around. G87 will be the same, I have confirmed MSRP allocation

I got my OG F87 on 4/8/16 before the official release date from BMW. I paid MSRP and it was a somewhat local dealer (within an hour) so don't settle for even a few thousand over!

Yup, 3 of them within 50 miles of Philadelphia. Just put my name on the list @ Lancaster BMW and am first in line
