NEED NEW CLUTCH

Hi there,

Got a 2011 335i n55 6MT

Recently when doing pulls my clutch has been slipping so I’m looking to replace it.

I’m tuned stage 2+ so I’m looking for something that can handle a bit more power than stock.

Mostly looking for OEM+ or something with a similar setup to OEM since I daily the car and in stop and go traffic a lot.

What are some recommendations that aren’t going to break the bank too much? And should I also replace my flywheel ?

Thanks!

I do a lot of traffic, and on all my cars I have upgraded clutch and flywheels.

The moment you keep an organic disk, you'll be fine.

On my e90 I use a DKM twin disk, and feels OEM.

I was going to go with the 335IS/550I clutch kit.

Yeah me either that’s what I’m currently trying to figure out since for me like I said I just daily it and the IS kit is not that expensive so it works great if it fits.

Some suggest continuing with a dual mass flywheel to maintain oem feel and sound level (I got a great deal on replacement through Park Auto). The disc/pressure plate kit I went with is a product made by Clutchmasters (FX350 purchased through T1 Motorsports). I haven't installed yet but have some slippage beginning in 3rd gear when on it (500 crank hp).

single mass, at least on my 3 cars, did not make a difference on a daily drivin.

what makes a difference is the disk grip.
I tried a friends 6 puck ceramic disk, and this is hard, it's on/off clutch.

SMFW will do sound (chatter), my audi and vw , not that much, my 335 damn the cars sound broken. However I can ear it only when im close to a wall, not noticeable in the cabin

Yeah I don’t really want to mess around and go too far off from what stock set up would be which is why I want to go with an IS kit. Plus it’s significantly cheaper than mostly everything else and holds the power I need it too while retaining OEM feel and bite.

I recall reading threads that reported that set-up not holding your level of power and decided it's too big a job to take that risk.

N55 with stock turbos max out at 375 whp so the iS clutch would handle that power fine, I run it on my car no issues. Same MY as yours

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. On N55 stage 2+ really isn’t much compared to N54 which may have been where the complaints are from.

The is clutch is good to 500 at the crank. Anything over 500 you must go with a SMFW, as misses may occur at this point. I have Pure 2 and port injection. At that point an SMFW and Spec 2+ clutch is a must..
