ame across this in my search but they have the ZF auto and thinking that might make it as a donor a more problem some way of doing it. Thoughts. |

My e91 N54 swap is in the planning stages (I have both the donor and the e91 already). The advice I got was to buy the closest you can to what you’ve got. So, in the case that would be an e90 335i— which is what I ended up getting. Anything else was going to require a lot of additional parts. Even an e92/93 was going to require quite a bit… but it wasn’t that bad. My advice is to keep looking for an e9X 335i. It’ll be a lot easier and cheaper in the long run.

imo this is not a deal breaker, and its not night&days like many reported. Driving a hyundai accent base automatic VS a 911 TT GT3 6mt, this is night and day. Also, a real RWD conversion is not that involving considering you already into a full swap. And of course, you have the ''not real'' way to RWD, by removing the axle, driveshaft, cap the hub and xdelete it to kept the safety features. Yes the subframe still heavier, but it's not that noticeable. For me that was not a deal breaker, since it was cheaper to put the power down than a LSD rear diff conversion. However, Im not saying one day Ill do a LSD and xdelete or even a real rwd conversion, |

My wagon is a RWD sport. Just a slushbox and m52 which is great when connected to a manual but an auto is damn boring without tq and HP
I have not driven an e9X as a xDrive, I toyed with getting one but both my 335 is rwd manual and the Wagon is rwd auto. I have a e83 X3 sport but that's a different correct. I have my E36 M3 and E30 M3 and 24V swapped E30 all manuals. Last edited by M-technik-3; 09-05-2024 at 04:24 PM.. |

- both subframes - engine/trans obviously - DME - Cluster - CAS - Keys then small stuff can be sourced new/used easily : - radiator - condenser - exhaust if you have an early E91 the wiring might be not the same. Also brakes pipes and maybe the booster is not the same on rwd/awd. Like few stated, a similar car is way easier, and if it's late 2007 (for both) it's also easier. And when you forgot a part, it's right here. And if lucky, you might had upgrade parts. In my region totaled 335 where more expensive than running used one, and no clue if the car was previously running... So Ive waited, and found a gem , from a guy who was tired of trowing shit ton of $ to maintain it. You know the type of guy that was ALMOST here. He put 8K$ in 2 years ! only 116k km. In cad$ : - My E91 : 3500$ - 335 : 7k$ (worth easy 13-15k$ back then on the market, still pinchin myself) - Part and mods : around 10K$ - Part out parts : 5k$ Not bad for a fuly loaded E91 with a 600hp setup (still need tuning ) Last edited by oVeRdOsE.; 09-06-2024 at 08:36 AM.. |
