Turbo upgrades.

I see the popular trend of turbo upgrades here. RB, hexon, Vargas, pure (for n55 guys. Has anyone tried to go the turbo lab route?..... Better yet lets do this. What set of non oem twins are you guys running, whats the results and mileage on them?. And if you had a do over whould you do the same?

Turbo lab and hexon were the 2 I've been considering.. That's odd tla is recommending hexon.. Maybe they work together ot something, who knows.. But how is hexon cheaper, as claimed in link

Its not. I believe on the site hexon was rocommended if you werent going to go with the turbo lab that uses the td03. They still recommend themselves lol.

Turbo lab is only capable of stage 1 type rebuilds. I spoke to him yesterday. His turbos will retain the stock TD03 turbine wheel, although he does have to ability to clip it. The clip and then adding a 14T compressor wheel is similar to other companies stage 1 offerings, prob maxing out around 500hp. Turbo labs price will be hard to beat though on that style turbo.

GH,

thats a tough question too many variables, boost running, do you have inlets, oil running.

from what researched you have the initial hybrids the old RB had some had issues. now rob got more tech their hes VSR balancing the turbos, so the new ones should be more durable. rob is easy to talk to..;

i got hexon r550 love them, great sales and customer experience with mine... i am prob doing 450whp (need a new clutch set boost low) i only got 3000k miles.... no issues thus far... easy core returns!

vargus- hes just has terrible rep, tried to call him, never got response... i wouldn't buy just on customer service posts alone.

pure- looks promising, easy to talk to... but not enough data on longevity.

price,durability, customer service, were my too most important criteria when i made my selection. i see my self going 500-550wp... thats fast enough for me...

I'm curious to know if any of these re-builders have monitored exhaust gas back-pressures and temperatures during their dyno pulls. Or are they solely focused on the hp values?

I know for sure Tony at VTT does a lot of monitoring, from EGT, back pressure to RPM and all kind of data. Not sure about the others.

Yea, drove a e90 with stage 2+ clutch. It def took away from the driveability some. I wasnt too much a fan. Of that but from what i hear the stage 2 with stock flywheel is a tad lighter on the legs. When i got back in my car and pressed the clutch i almost stomped a hole through the floorboard hahahahahaha cant have my cake and eat it huh. I think thats why i wanted to go stage 1 but most folks didnt recommend for making 500 comfortably.

They give me like 25% off to test and try stage 1's and ill do it.. Doesnt seem like any data on stage 1.. Hexon or VTT lol. Hexon is currently revising hybrid 1. Theyre going from 15T to 14T for better flow it seems.

15T is way too large of a compressor wheel for a TD03 turbine wheel. Hats why they're revising.
