Telematics Combox question
Hi All, hoping I can get some clarity on the issue.... I have a 2011 GT 530, and last year I noticed a couple of issues with phone connectivity and functions. Basically, my kids used to be able to connect their phones to my system, but last year, they were unable to. My phone however, connects fine. Also, I am unable to use the Office function beyond seeing my phone book - no SMS messages, emails....
My kid's phones have no special characters in their name, and as I said, they did connect previously. So, I bought a replacement (used but functional) Telematics Combox (module P/No 9257151), and would like to swap it with the existing one. From my research, even though the VIN number is different, it 'should' still work without any coding. However, I also read about one or two instances where battery drain occurs, so could anyone of you experts out there let me know whether a swap out is OK to do? I did ask my local BMW Outlet whether they would consider replacing it with a used module, but they said (a) they are not allowed to, and (b) it is possible that if I installed a used unit from another car, it might work in my car. |
