CF Buckets latch broken
Has anyone experienced this? I just picked up my second G87 2 days ago (last one totaled) and this one has CF buckets (which i love).
My driver side latch is not working though. Whe I pull on it, nothing happens. My passenger side works just fine. The only reason I found out was i dropped something under there lol. Any tips or quick fixes for this? I don’t want to yank too hard but it’s just not giving. Id rather not take it into service because I don’t want the tech’s messing with my seat and taking it apart (not sure if you even can). I also don’t want to run the risk of scratching the carbon. I can’t find any threads on this. Any help is appreciated! |

Try different angles when pulling. I remember the first time they pulled while inspecting the car prior to signing it would not move and they just like played with it. If that does not work I guess you can have it inspected at the dealer.

I’ll likely try that a bit later. I’d hate to have them take it apart at dealer during my break in service lol. Thanks!

When you say “the latch doesn’t work” do you mean you pull the lever (or maybe it’s a strap on the CF) and the seat back moves forward but the base doesn’t?
Try it with the engine not running. |

Seat doesn’t move at all when I yank the lever (strap on the buckets for me). Nothing happens at all like it’s stuck. I can feel it click but doesn’t come forward.

Nothing should happen when you pull the strap. It just unlocks the seat back movement. You push the seat back forward. Then when you do that, the seat bottom moves forward. Is this what you’re referring to? |

Exactly. The seat won’t budge when latch is engaged (pulled) and even held there.

Did you lose the item from the front? If so, try moving your seat as far back as you can (to see if you can dislodge the item), and see if it frees the latch. |

No I doubt it. It was a tiny house key not attached to anything laying flat on the ground. I haven’t been able to get it yet as the seat is so low and my hands will not fit. Lol.

You need to move the seat up anyway then. Try doing that and see if it makes a difference. Interesting issue to have, can’t say I’ve ever seen it (other than a physical impediment in another car).

For mine, I pull the strap and the backrest folds forward and then the entire seats automatically moves forward for passengers to get into the back seat. Afterwards, I straighten the back of the seat out and it automatically goes backwards to the previous position

Ah ok the CF might be spring loaded then… if that’s the case, I’d try to push the seat back backwards before pulling the latch. Because the spring load might be pulling the seat and it makes it hard to unlatch, so if you try to force it to the back it might alleviate some of that pressure. Try this OP.

Any news on this OP? I checked the bucket seats and they function the exact same way as the non-CF ones, meaning they only move forward when you push them (contrary to what someone here said, that they move forward when you pull the strap), so my theory remains that you had the engine running. Did you confirm it works now? Pull the strap, move the back rest forward, seat moves forward on its own?

That’s a shame. Hopefully it’s just a foreign object and not broken (as it’d likely take long to get parts in and stuff). Good luck, let us know what they find! Might be something we can watch for and it might impact all seats. Cheers
