Only young people's head turn

Yo folks,

I've been driving my ZV blue M2 for 4 months now in a city environment with dense population. So far I'm having a really funny experience regarding the people who point at the car or rolling their head after the car.
They are mostly 0-30 years old (literally all the little kids I've driven by points at my car with a big smile), above 30-40 not many people even notice the car.
For me it shows the genius of BMW designers and leadership regarding targeting the younger audience and positioning the car with its figure and colour.
Did you notice anything similar? Or try to watch people who are interested in your car while you're driving. Please share your experince in this matter. I'm honestly curious if this happens only in my area or it's really a thing.

Multiple conversations I’ve had where people have complimented me about the M2 have been with people in their 20s, when refuelling our cars.

I have encountered about 3-4 instances of people who were actually above the age 35+ easily. I think one of them was in the 55+ age complimenting me about the car. They would ask some questions like "what do you have planned for the car, what model is this, what color is this...etc" Then the old question "How much are you paying? All of these encounters were actually when I was filling up gas for the car. They tend to be amazed because I am a younger individual so they question if this is my car or my parents. However, I don't really take offense to this type of question because it makes you realize hard work pays off.

Probably depends on where you are. I have had people from college age to people in their 70s. I think if you are around car people, there are no rules. When I am at Cars and Coffee, I get people of all age (men and women) coming up to me.

I've got to be honest that I don't notice anyone really checking out the car and nobody has approached me at gas stations, supermarkets, etc. I like it. Compared to my Inferno Orange Z06 that gets so much attention whenever I drive it.

I've noticed the same. Went to Chik-Fil-A for lunch today and parked in the middle of nowhere away from everyone. When I came out, there were 2 other BMW's parked nearby, both full of youngins, that were checking the car out and taking pictures. They complimented me on the car and said that 3 or 4 other cars had driven by taking pictures. Was pretty amusing.

Must be an American thing, here in Europe the car gets a good amount of attention. Keep in mind, my car is black, so less flashy than a lighter color. That said, there are considerably less "performance cars" on the road here than in the US and car enthusiast culture is not as prominent amongst drivers, from my experience. Had my M2 "twin" at a light next to me the other day, and the driver didn't even seem to notice.

my 1M gets everybody’s attention LOL—-from older women who love an orange car to 15 year olds who have watched YouTube videos about the 1M. It’s crazy.

I’ve seen a couple G87 M2s in person and I can totally see why it appeals to younger people. My 8yo son said the G87 was amazing when he first saw it and kept asking me to sell the 1M and get a G87! Kids……

I haven’t noticed that, maybe it’s more commensurate with your age. I’m 58 and I’ve had younger people and older people comment on my car. Most of the older people remember those crazy body styles from the 80s and they really like it too. When I tell them the specs, they are blown away. And of course people know what M cars are so some are really surprised by the bold styling.

Mine is in Stormtrooper spec.

Here in Benton County AR my ZB M2 gets noticed. But I don't see an age bias. Twenty somethings (and a few under 20) to I'm sure people in their 60s maybe even 70s and every age in between have complimented me on the car.

Latest compliment came from a middle aged guy walking out Culver's (fast food joint) on Walton Blvd and spotted the car and as he approached me/passed me said "Nice race car!". I don't consider the M2 a race car but thanked him.

Will have owned the car 1 year April 14. So far the car has received more favorable comments -- and not one negative comment -- than any other car I have owned.

It may get noticed by an older crowd too! Just that most mature folks are more reserved than youngins

I live in a small US city in Michigan, but, a city still, and everyone notices it. People notice the blue. Bmw guys just know. Families take pictures. I catch people selfying with it. There's always someone stopping me at a light, or the gas station, or out to dinner, or the store, or the park. Old. Young. Regardless of gender or race as well. People just notice it. And complement it. And you know what never happens? Nobody EVER dislikes it. Seems that's for internet trolls.

The kids though. The kids? They race me.

Actually it happened to me quite a few times here. I’ve seen kids (18-20 years) taking pictures of my car. On another occasion some guys approached to checkout the car and they really liked it. I’ve had these types of encounters many times.

Having the exact reaction from ages 0-30ish. A few people ask me about it on weekends. I always let true enthusiasts and kids sit in the buckets so they understand.

I had 2 girls stop me at a red light. True story. They loved the color but didn’t know what kind of car it was. Only that it “looks fast and pretty”. lol.

I believe a great deal of it depends on the color of your M2 & the demographics in your particular area. A true sports car enthusiast (regardless of how familiar they are with the 87) should still appreciate the bold muscular body lines. Every time I see I'm glad I didn't go the G80 route. That's for damn sure. LOL

There is 1 black M2 around Myrtle Beach, have seen it a few times twice driving and once parked….spotted it immediately. I’m 45 and have car enthusiast peripheral vision though lol.
Will definitely chat with the owner if the chance happens.

Feels like I am getting less attention than expected but I think that's because the car is black. There have been a few younger kids turning their heads, and I did have one car back up in the lane next to me to read the badge on the back to see what kind of car it is.

I've had it parked in my driveway a few times when I was cleaning out the garage. None of my neighbors have made any comments. I honestly think from a quick glance they just assume it's my previous car which was also BSM with black wheels.

I had the same when I had my BSM G87. Nobody knew what it really was, other than being black. I like that stealth look with the wide hips however.

Now that I am in a ZV Blue G87, I turn heads and get stopped/commented on all the time. For my area (Newport beach) I get much more attention from younger crowds.

I also get pulled over more easily! LOL!

In decades of classic car and now BMW ownership x3, people respond to style primarily and color next. Age seems to be less of a factor. IMO
