Hey all,

Just a quick warning...was off to Grandma's house yesterday for Sunday lunch when I was pulled over by the OPP.

Had just turned a corner so wasn't speeding yet....the OPP have plate scanning technology and as I drove by it raised a warning because my plates had expired.

I figured I would get a reminder email on my birthday but obviously that didn't happen. Officer said ⅔ of the province is in this boat (plates expired but don't realize it) ... $110 fine but he let me off with a warning. I renewed when I got home and was able to set a reminder this time.

He did admire the vehicle...

LOL although true, registration is a yearly ordeal all across NA isn’t it

Oh yes, we don’t have radar scanning our plates…yet.

Ah you were referring about the scanner! Gotcha.
I looked it up out of curiosity, look at this stuff: https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasb...r-ai-criminal/

So not only do they scan it, but they have AI tell the cop that you’re suspicious because you might be doing the same thing a criminal would be doing lol crazy stuff

Although that’s in NY, which arguably is worse than Ontario… lol
Alberta and Saskatchewan are the only safe places around these parts…

New York State Troopers have devices that regularly scan plates for vehicle information.

A neighbor at my western New York summer residence is sergeant of the local barracks and demonstrated the unit for me.
