That's great
BMW don't even offer a sunroof as optional for G81 M3 touring what a shame.

And once again my friends, Americans get screwed by the German auto industry.

Awesome. I can't live without it.

It's already a 3700-3800 lb car, what's another 50 lbs? I'd rather not sit inside a cave.

Nah man, you're being too nice. I'm going to hold their feet to the fire for having tons more colors on the M240i, but not the M2.

People that track their cars need room for helmet. Less weight is only an added bonus. Forcing people to buy $2600 carbon roof is ridiculous, when they aren't doing it in EU or UK.

In theory the US msrp could have been less, with slicktop standard.

Given the choices, I'd rather have a few gimped options yet still able to order and get a car (M2) vs having more options yet BMW making so few that you basically can't get the car. (M240i xDrive) It ends up being limited one way or the other not to undercut sales and I much prefer what they're doing with the M2 than the M240i.

It's a ripoff because the price of the sunroof is likely included in the carbon roof (I made a short conjecture on that based on 1900 CAD approx. 1400 USD (carbon roof) and 1100 USD for sunroof totaling 2500 USD)
Because carbon roof is so popular, BMW is making owners pay for both the sunroof and the carbon roof should you go with the option. They must really want to sell the sunroofs on M cars, hardly anyone buys them.

Is a sunroof delete possible in the US? I dont want one, and couldn't get myself to want one on my F87. Kills the look.

Sounds like same situations as with the F30 340i where I had to get the sunroof - agree with you / it totally ruins the look on the car. I ordered AW over red leather and I didn't want the glass sunroof to ruin it. Some guys put the black plastic wrap to hide it. Cheesy imo. Of course they offered sunroof delete on the 330i. BMW offers more choice to customers on the low models than the top models. Had a sunroof delete F87 6MT and loved the steel roof. To those that want the sunroof - congrats - the ice is tilted your way.

I might go standard roof. Not sure I can do the carbon fiber. Time will tell. It's gonna be a long wait til I get my order in, it seems.

I have the sunroof on my F87 & guarantee im on track more than 90% on this site, im also quite a big guy & i have no issues, i do also have decent seats though.
I wonder how many on here will bitch about the sunroof hindering their track use but still be too tight fisted to opt for the bucket seats…seems a little hypocritical to me.

I would love to go for the bucket seats. They are too pricey here in Canada. You can only get part of a package MSRP 12,500/13,000 CAD.

If I could get the seats stand alone as an option, I would seriously consider it.

My sentiments exactly! Well played BMW. Well played… CF Roof for me.

JustinHEMI You are welcome. Sorry it was not better news.
And to get that carbon roof you didn't really want, because you simply wanted a plain moonroof-less roof ( say that three times ), you have to spend $9k plus on a package you also didn't want.

Abusive.

is that 5g connection worth getting?

Especially since Big Bertha is already a tad porky. Why not offer a slick top (to save weight) as standard and make the moonroof and carbon roof optional? Why? Because they know most wanting an M2 buy it for performance reasons and those drivers tend to want a lighter vehicle, thus deleting the heavy moonroof. So they give us a heavier option (steel roof with moonroof) as standard and tease us with a lighter option for a huge premium. Screwing your customers is not good marketing.

Has that been confirmed? Thought I read here it's only available as part of the Carbon Package.

Yes, cf roof is standalone option for $2600. Bucket seats are suspected to only be part of the carbon pack but still waiting for confirmation on that.
