Carbon Fiber Hood\Trunk and Shocks
I have been searching for awhile and I can't find it again, but I saw somewhere a post that indicated you could use a different set of shocks that had a lower pressure rate for the trunk\hood.
I am not worried about the hood as they are removed. But I have an e93 and the trunk is very heavy for my wife to lift up and I would like some sort of shock there to assist. Also so it doesn't get slammed down. Was there an option for this? |

The post I thought I saw here said the shocks from the M3 were a lower pressure. But the Part numbers I have found was the same. Trying to find confirmation or if anyone has ideas.

I actually think we can reuse our shocks. To do so, we just need to have a steel mounting plate fabbed up that bolts onto the stock 2 bolts on the hinge plate, and then have the plate positioned up to where the stock mounting bolt for the shock is.
The plate being bolted up to the stock 2 bolts on the mounting hinge will hold and spread the load across these 2 bolts. |

I changed out my shocks on my carbon fiber trunk. I was worried the higher pressure on the OEM may crack the trunk over time. I talked to Lou at liftsupportsdepot.com/. I told him what I needed them for and the weight of the trunk and he sent me the correct supports. Works perfectly and the trunk closes nicely...perfect fit.

I talked to Lou at liftsupportsdepot.com. Tell him what you are trying to do and he will help you and figure out which one would be the right one for your application.

Can you post what you bought from him? I can't imagine it's significantly different.
