Is Dealership lying to me? What to do
Hello Everyone,
I live in Saudi Arabia, Unfortunately Dealerships here aren't very straight forward and very bad customer service. I purchased the car in December of 2023, Car ran without issues until after my first service (8000km), I didn't have a service package so I did the service outside the Dealership at a known place for M power or AMG. Fast-forward 1700km I get a check engine light. I towed the car to nearest Dealership, 1 week later im hit with a bill to pay due to "unsuitable Oil change done by customer" Apparently my oil change outside dealership caused Vanos to go bad, Codes 130714, 130715, 130716. They told me that me using (MOTUL 5W30 LL01) isnt BMW genuine oil and that this is the cause for it to not be repaired or done by warranty. Engine oil filter is all Genuine BMW group filter with the part numbers and all. Car overall is 9700kms only or 6000miles. |

Are they're lips moving??
What does the manual that came with the car say? In the US it says Longlife 14 or 17 FE+. LL01 is not the spec for the newer models. Hard to believe the LL01 would cause the Vanos to go bad when plenty of BMW's have been using LL01 for millions of miles. I don't know what would be different about the vanos, but maybe someone here does. But, unfortunately, I suppose they can deny a warranty claim if your manual says the same as the US and you used LL01 5W-30. I think Motul does have a LL-17 FE+ oil. |

Well yes they are everyday they are telling me something new, the issue with LL17FE is 0w20, Dealership uses 5w30 due to our climate and weather being harsh on cars, so even if the manual states 0W20-0W30 we use 5W30 for M models or M lite being the 40i. Im lost honestly on what to do. |

I agree it seems unlikely that LL01 would damage the car. How did you know what oil you used and that you’d done a non dealer oil change? I’d ask to see the oil analysis report. |

So how do they know it’s not the correct oil?

They based it off me using *non bmw oil* basically not bmw brand oil.
It's just a way in middle east to remove ur warranty, they didn't do test on oil or anything. |
