New Order from Canada (ordering guide included)

Hey all,
I ordered my M240i on Dec 18th, Expected delivery Mar 31st, although I still have no production date/VIN etc. I'm coming from an E89 sdrive35i Z4 on mhd, bolt ons etc. I had an RX8 and 350Z before that, the Z4 was my first bmw/german car. I was originally deciding between a new supra, z4 or cayman as this car wasn't on my radar. Ultimately the AWD and backseats outweighed how hard I was fanboying on the supra. This is my first automatic car in forever. Here's my build ($CAD):

I went with the blue paint ($900) and the standard blue calipers.
Black leather with blue stitching. ($1500) This gets you the adjustable driver's side bolsters as well.

We have 3 packages up here.
I passed on the essential pkg ($2500). I didn't want the sunroof. Coming from a 2 seater, having backseats is more storage than I've ever had so the rest was an easy pass.

Passed on the premium enchanced pkg ($5000) includes above, plus gets you the upgraded sound system, HUD and adaptive headlights. All I really wanted here was the HUD but I couldn't justify spending $5k for that one option.

I went with this one, M Sport pro pkg ($2500) has the shadowline headlights and black gloss grill which I wanted (about $900 for both standalone). Also nets you the 893M two tone rims with non runflats and the M seat belts. I have no idea what the "33T M Technology Package" is....Oh, and this option forces you to pay the $500 for adaptive headlights since its required for the shadowline headlights.

Standalone options:
Digital cockpit pro $1000 - easy choice
Adaptive Suspension $750 - this seemed like a no brainer, great value.

I decided to pass on adaptive cruise for $1000, I'm already coming from over a decade of manual transimissions. Parking assist is unnecessary. Everything else was pretty much cosmetic preferences.

Will update with pictures as soon as I receive the car.
Waiting patiently for the M2, I'm sure driving this will help.

Thanks for posting, there are a number of differences in the standard setup and in options between the North America US, and Canada M240ix drive. For example you 2vf adaptable suspension is standard US. US has standard ZN1 active blind spot detection and ZN4 lane departure warning. The ZPZ option is different than our Ztk option etc (ours has on 1w0 and 33T subsets). And yes if I find it a bit infuriating that one cannot find out exactly what the 33T package is, It apparently differs depending upon model, what it actually is for the Canadian version M240 i have no idea. I'm sure there are a number of other differences but that's what i saw at a glance.

I don't even see ZN1 or ZN4 options for us, I just figured those were part of 5AS based on interior shots on the website.

The immediate difference I noticed was that we have heated steering/seats standard. Being optional makes sense given the climates in places like florida/cali. All interesting stuff, especially since this is my first new car buying experience.

Currently waiting to get pricing on some of the m performance part options.

.
Very likely, also may just be a difference in how stuff is listed in the order guide, but our guide lists a 5AS standard also and in addition shows ZN1 and ZN4, it just may be a difference in how they structured the guide between the two countries but it sure would be nice to know for sure.

I'm about to order mine and I was wondering if Canadian customers can track their orders through the website like US customers? My dealer said he would just inform me when they hear the car is in transit. I would to be able to see it progress in the build so I can see some progress and not left wondering if I have weeks left to wait or months.

I wasn't given anything other than an ETA date on my invoice. I noticed alot of US customers getting production weeks and VINs rather quickly. My experience is the same as yours - I'm essentially just waiting on the dealer to let me know when they have a VIN.

I placed an order here in Canada and tried to use the US Mygarage site to track my order number and was not able to do so

I got my M240i up here in Canada, the M Technology Package apparently is the over fenders on the front. Sweet spec! I don't know of anyway to track your order here, like I've seen people doing in the U.S. Congratulations!

Holy crap, i just went to configurator and you indeed see a change to the fenders and quarters with the m tech pkg, although it's barely noticeable. This made me realize that the 893M wheels in the m sport pkg comes with wider tires. I wonder if there's anything else to expect with 33T

Seems like BMW likes to keep us guessing.
supposedly it includes:
Quote:
Enhance the cooling performance of your vehicle with a more powerful cooling fan and an additional engine oil cooler. Mobility kit is included.
Some folks seem to indicate that the much larger performance brakes are included....but it seems strange that is never mentioned in the description so I am not really sure. BMW seems really sparse on details of some of this stuff.

So here in Canada if we order Sensatec and premium pkg, you can get the non leather option with lumbar support?

I know that's not the case in the US.

I have a copy of the dealer notes and the M Technology Package for Canada is:

- expansion of transmission oil/air cooler
- front brake rotors size increase (348mm to 374mm)
- the 893M style wheels
- High performance tires (so far all the press cars with that wheel is using Michelin Pilot Sports or 4S)

In top on that, in Spain at least, it comes with 245mm tyres instead of 225mm and extra lips in front and rear.

I'm pretty sure the M technology package also increases top speed limiter from 130 to 155 mph. The US non HP cooling and tech definitely has a limiter of 130. Ask me how I know 🤣😥😭

You are correct. The M technology package increases the top speed limiter to 155 but its to do with the fact that the car comes with performance tires as standard.

The top speed limiter is set to 130 on cars with All seasons. You could theoretically option any of the available wheels with performance tires and still have the top speed limiter set to 155.

Yes the front tire width grows but I think the rears are the same. Just the switch to Michelin Pilot 4S is a huge upgrade in ride quality and performance. The wheel sizes also are 0.5" wider front and rear. I think the rears could easily mount a 265 or 275.

My new build is in the system now and it's slated for March to start production so probably a May delivery for me. However, the system immediately indicated my touch screen will be deleted. Sucks!

What's the size of the wheels without the MTech pkg?

Wonder how much the 245s in the front helps with the steering issue some have mentioned.

Regular wheel width is 19x8 F and 19x8.5 R while the M Pro package is 19x8.5 F and 19x9.5 R.

I think in one review there was a comment about vague on center feel and such fast steering that if you looked away you'd end up in the next lane. But the other reviews seems to say it's great and stable. If anything the common complaint was that there wasn't as much feel as one would want but it was still precise.
