Very true. I've always tried to strike a balance of being prepared for the future (retirement/emergency events) and enjoying myself now. Tomorrow isn't promised and you never know what can happen, especially in society today. Might as well enjoy a 2 door BMW while you know you can.

Out of curiosity which year S4 did you have and how does the M240i compare to it?

Don't know if my vote counts since I don't have an M240i, but I'm 30 and this is my first BMW. Previously owned Accords, Mustang, Stinger, and TLX.

I’m the same way, trying to balance financial decisions with being prepared & enjoying myself now. My previous job I was licensed as a broker & investment advisor so it’s hard for me to splurge on things, but I also have expensive taste lol. Ultimately I decided this would be my quarter-life crisis car since I’m in my mid-twenties. I haven’t received it yet due to the stop sale, but I’m definitely still glad I ordered it

I was thinking it but didn't want to say it. I think many younger guys are stretching their budget on a post-30K vehicle, let alone 60K+...assuming no help from mom & dad, no inheritance received, not a YouTube star, etc. Talking about your everyday 9-5er.

I'm 76. My first BMW was a used F32 that I bought a couple years ago. Liked it so much that I decided to buy a M2. Obviously, was too late, so I ended up getting this M240i. I've probably had nearly 60 vehicles in my life, and I think this 240 is right up there with some of the best that I've ever owned. The power of this vehicle, in a moments notice, just amazes me to no end! Sure brings a smile to my wrinkled old face!!! Still think I would have enjoyed that M2 though!

Mid-twenties is third-life crisis when you look at the average life expectancy. Pushing the retirement age to 67 is a sham. Working people to death for real.

2014, its been quite a while since I had the car it was APR tuned and a blast to drive. Really hoping at some point we get flash tuning with the m240 from my experience once you tune a car its a whole different animal.

Here i thought i would be the oldest at 75 this year, but i see someone (Kel445) has beat me. At least i can say i've ran the M240x at a quartermile track event, but even more fun ran it at a road race course thru Hooked on Driving. Gobs of fun. A fun track that had lots of elevation changes..."The Ridge" in Washington State.

My 1/4 mile races were back in the 60's on the street. I've never heard of HOD but it sounds like it would be a great experience, especially to get instruction and driving experience from those with actual skill. I'm well aware that this vehicle has much more capability than I'll ever experience with it. In any case, thanks for the info. Only wish was that it had a 6 speed.

Best was 11.68, had some really nice reaction times at the light, no one was even remotely close at the 1/8 mile line. Lotta folks pretty slow at the lights. I never matched up with anyone that beat me...was hoping to get paired against this one supercharged mustang, he had quicker times, but i coulda/wouda beat him on reaction times i observed. Lotta folks with reaction times in the half second range, if you can get yours into the hundreths of a second reaction times you can beat faster cars.
This was an "open" event they have a few times a year, register and get a run number, then show up an run what ya brung against whatever gets paired up with you, no classes, a real mix.

I can't recommend HOD highly enough, very professional. If you have never been on a track you can opt for a coach to be on board with you the entire session. Very valuable and helpful. Since i had never been on any track before (instead of just allowing me to follow a lead car to show me the lines) he decided he would drive mine first at half pace to coach and show me the lines, then a lap at a faster pace. Well at the end of the first lap (he's driving half pace), I going.."gee that's awfully fast for half pace". Then he steps it up....i was gobsmacked, speechless the entire lap. Wasn't the speed...i'm used to high speeds...i run my bike occasionally to well over 100), and I am used to cornering forces...it was the massive braking they do. I've never been a heavy braker, any type of road racing they use maximum braking right now..at the last millisecond....that was what i was not used to or prepared for.

Oh ya, i miss the manual my previous car/s had as well.

I'll be 71 this year and this 240 is my first BMW but not the first 2 door performance coupe I've owned. The B58 and all wheel drive system give the car a feeling of capability to do anything. I find myself glancing at the speedometer to find that I have well exceeded "lose your license" territory

Definitely an issue how smooth this car is at high speed. I used to get a little uneasy in my BRZ when approaching 90mph, the 240 is so smooth it feels like you're cruising at 50.

I wish the speed alert on the HUD had an offset as I don't want the alert at 1mph over, but would want it at 15-20mph over. Or does it have this?
