I turned my alert off, since it was always on.

This car accelerates and reaches speed with such a lack of effort and drama that it’s almost a complaint. I imagine it would be like Mike Tyson in his prime only getting to box rookies in Golden Gloves.

I did the same for the same reason..let's be honest, who drives <= the speed limit.

An offset setting would be awesome, as I'd like a heads up when I go 10-15 over and not 1+ over, because the driving experience in this car leaves it a mystery. No tickets yet, fortunately.

When I had a Shelby GT500, with nearly 2x the HP of this car, I would complain of less than ideal 0-60 times since I couldn’t get it to hook-up. Now that I have a car that seriously hooks-up and provides impressive 0-60 times, I complain it’s too easy.

1st World problems.

I'm 63 and had 12 new BMWs over around the last 30yrs the first one in my early 30s which was quite a step at the time as paid for all my cars outright and never had finance, looking through some of the posts it seems most people use finance surely on a depreciating asset this isn't the best thing?

Yeah I think most people should adhere to the 20/3/8 rule when financing their vehicles.

20% down
3 Year term
8% of monthly gross

Given how much cars have risen in price relative to incomes now, it would be tough to say no one should have a car loan of some type in my humble opinion.

I'm 36 - first BMW.

I never considered one before the end of 2021 and I was looking to replace the civic type R I had at the time. I looked at everything in this price bracket, slightly above and below and this was the best all around by a wide margin. Given the significantly over inflated values of the type Rs at the time, it wasn't much money to move into what I consider a substantial upgrade in the m240i.

You'd need to be making nearly $250,000 per year to adhere to this rule of thumb.

Yeah, that formula is a little aggressive for a $60,000 car.

20% down = $12,000
$48,000 / 36 months = $1,333 per month
$1,333 X 100 / 8 = $16,663 monthly gross, or $199,956 annual gross

I don’t see too many of the 18-25 year olds on here pulling that off.

And that ^^^ is an interest free loan without including ~$5k in taxes.

I work at a big tech company and not that many people make over $200k in salary (The Bay Area not withstanding). Lots of people driving expensive cars than the M240i.

I’m in my early 40s and the M240i is technically my second - but really my first - BMW. My wife has an x3.

54, and my second BMW (1st one 20 years ago). Too many Mustangs over the years, but I've fully converted now!

UPDATE: For the record, I'm keeping one of my Mustangs.

This is my first luxury brand car and test drove five+ other BMW models including the 230i before deciding on it. Love the car and been enjoying it ever since.

For you OGs talking about street racing in the '60s....this was my father's pride and joy. I just might have to line her up against the M240i, because that would be one hell of a fun (and loud!) race!

Beautiful car! A good friend has a ‘67 Z28 with a 427 (not original) that turns more heads than a Lamborghini.

I'll drive over and drive her for that race. Got a 69 Camaro in the garage I need to restore. Beautiful car.

M240slc, that is one beautiful car, thanks for posting, brings back memories...in 1969 I acquired a slightly used 1968 Camaro RS, I unfortunately totalled it after about 5 months of ownership.

I'm with ya all. At least I said people should be allowed to finance cars unlike the person I was replying too who thinks no one should have a car loan. At the end of the day, I don't think car debt is bad when done well: low interest, positive equity, a relatively small portion of income, and they are they saving/investing in their future.

In my 50's. My 5th BMW. Love them for my daily driver. Very reliable. This so far has been the most sportiest of the daily BMWs. The rest have been BMW GTs or Gran Coupes or suv X models.

The internet's been around for like 3 years now; are you just now realizing how it works?

What exactly would I be realizing? The fact that most of the people who talk about finance just regurgitate something they heard somewhere else?
