Mine turn on when I remote start or regular start and it’s cold outside. Steering wheel, seats, and heat.

1. Better the motor breaks than my rotator cuff.

2. Just returned from a business trip where I had to drive a cheap Chrysler minivan which had ACC - man do I miss it!

Using a small thumb drive to block the port is a great idea!

Is there a setting I need to enable? Its been below freezing here and it still doesn't turn on.

I’m pretty sure it’s in the cars climate control settings, you can configure all of this, it’s been a while since I originally set it.

Strange. Mine also turn on. Use it every morning!

I have the temp set at 20 C (68 F); seat on Medium...always nice and warm getting in. I don't even use gloves anymore!

Definitely go through the settings again and checked everything carefully.

Just ordered a couple of these instead. See no harm in having another purple light. 😏
From what I can figure it will shine outwards at the cup holders.
Adjustable color, adjustable brightness.

You might need to set your climate control to the full auto function. Both my seats and steering wheel turn on with remote starting.

I have found a solution to the problem! Search for silicone USB dust port covers on Amazon/Temu or your vendor of choice. It's not going to be completely water proof but it will keep dust and drips out.
Yeah, Amazon has a few that are pretty cheap. Here is a link to some different colored ones. I use the blue one - it is easier to find than the black one when I pull it off or accidently pop it off when cleaning.

Thanks for the idea. They’re pretty bright even when fully dimmed. And the purple might be more pink than you’d like. Will see if the light sensor can pick up daylight but I think it’s on the phone charger side. Turns off about 10 seconds after locking car. And turns on when unlocking car.

My only dislike so far is the built in home link garage door opener.

Very easy to program.

But the range is very short. I have to be right in front of my house for it to work. And a couple times , it didn't work at all.

The home link in my Infiniti would open the garage door from like 3 houses away.

Climate control settings, set your threshold temp for when both should kick on and you should be good.

Those settings only exist for iDrive 7 cars. Not anymore for iDrive 8.

I tried programming it following the manual's instructions to the letter and it would not work. Finally gave up and just clipped the opening to my visor. It has a great long range anyway so if the built in one is that bad then it sounds like I'm not missing much anyway.

As an FYI, you may need a fresh battery in your OEM garage door remote to successfully program the Homelink. Found this out after spending days trying to program the Homelink in my F22. Fresh battery, immediately programmed, otherwise it failed every time.

For some reason I had to start the car up to program

My garage door opener lost range and I still haven’t figured it out. I started noticing this when I still had my Subaru BRZ, years ago it worked from around the block but after a few years I have to be pretty much in front of my house. I have the same issue now with the BMW. I’ve read about this issue online, some have replaced the circuit board in their garage door opener (in the garage, not your home link) and had success.

Not saying this is definitely your issue, but may be something to consider.

Anyone challenged their BMW dealer about this?

Challenged them to what exactly the dealer doesn't produce the car, its not like they are going to go in the back and pull out a better one to put on for you.
