When to change over from snows to summers?
For those that have the dual setup, I am curious when you plan to swap wheels?
I put the snows on around Thanksgiving when the temperature was consistently below 40 degrees, but with the current warm streak Im considering putting the summer tires on soon.

Well the tire place storing my tires charges me for 6 months of storage. I too switch in November. So I'm thinking mid to late April I'll make the switch.

Ya, I would give it another month any how. It is rather tempting though, if you have the time, tools and garrage, put them on for a few days and take them back off when the weather gets bad again.

Im not ambitous enough to change them more than twice a year. I was more worried about premature wearing on the snows with these warm temps and waiting until the potholes are filled to throw the summers on.
End of March is the plan I think.

I changed the first weekend in April last year and got stuck at home when we had that freak snowstorm:
http://blogs.trb.com/news/weather/we...significa.html That blurb says it was rare, though, so any time in April should be reasonable. I'll probably do the first sunny Saturday again. |
