Nice! What year is your vehicle?
How about spelling out your acronyms for the uninitiated?

PS - charge your cell phone!
It’s a 2014 F32.
Basically upgraded the old idrive to new type, replaced the old telematics module with a new one to restore connected drive services..
bmw won’t allow you to make this upgrade, so connected services don’t work - hence a bit of trickery with a swap of the sim and their servers still think it’s the old system connected.

Phone charged and fuel tank filled. Thanks.

It’s a tricky job to swap- very small contacts on the pcb.. if you more details ask, but a few pics to explain:

Did you add the led button? Or just dremmel the black buttons stops and code?

I recently did the led buttons + retrofit from UK boards following Oksamit78 advice

Finished in BMW Ferric Grey; the car sits odd on our drive with it not being level and kinks half way along; but they look superb on the car now and the new suspensions doing a superb job I'm please to report

Take a gander... basically there are two vents, one on each side of the battery. One is connected to a vent tube and the other is capped off with a plug.

even dealers forget to transfer it, plug it with anything that’ll fit in there. it’s just annoying bmw doesn’t put it on replacement batteries.

I did connect the vent tube on the + side, but missed the other side. I'll find a rubber plug to cap it off..

I replaced my battery a few years ago and didn't notice the plug on the old battery. I question why my new BMW OEM battery didn't have any either or at least one. There doesn't seem to be any corrosion or sulfuric gas smells in the trunk after all this time but the issue does raise concern. Not sure if they are shipped without vent plugs or if they are removed by the parts dept before placing them on storage racks. I'm taking my car in to the dealership for an alignment tomorrow and will walk over to the parts dept where I originally bought the battery to inquire.

Doing 30 seconds of google research on AGM batteries shows they don't need venting but those plugs should be open in the event of gas buildup so they can breathe. Slightly different from lead acid which do need venting.

im just copying what BMW did from factory, i highly doubt they do things for no reason, especially since all F30 batteries are AGM.

the plug is only on one side the other side is attached to a vent hose, so i’m not sure what you’re trying to say? you shouldn’t plug one side in order to have the gas routed to the side that has a vent hose attached to it?

Just learned about the free rear fog light mod... man, this would have been super useful in the 6 or so years we've had the car against tailgaters LOL. Anybody know if this will also work on F82?

Yes, it does. If you’re adventurous you can buy an EU/UK board and move the led version to the US housing so the button can illuminate. Or buy one from Oksamit78

I did this on both my f30 and f80.

Straight forward on pre-LCI F82 and a little more challenging for LCI F82 (and F32/36), because LCI tail lights no longer have dedicated rear fog lights in North American spec F32/36/82 cars.

Perfect, thanks for confirming. Ours is a Pre-LIC model. Wish I knew earlier this worked. Our driveway is slightly curved so makes reversing the cars into the garage a little challenging at night, especially for the wife so I ended up insalling LED reverse lights.

I used a fine knife to remove the stops. If I ever come across the actual button, I'll consider changing it, but for now, I know it's there and that's all that actually matters.
