Help - Adaptive Headlight Malfunction?

I'm getting a message of "Adaptive Headlights Malfunction" on my console after turning on my car. Do you know what this may be? Interestingly enough, the headlights move up & down when turning on the car (not sure that there's anything wrong with them). Also, the fault goes away and returns intermittently.

I've read other posts but those suggest that the malfunction maybe as a result of not replacing the headlight bulbs with the correct ones. That's not the case for me, my car hasn't been touched in that area.

Any input? I drive a 335xi coupe.

Thanks for input! Now I'm wondering if it's covered under CPO.

I took the car to the dealer this morning, to be told that this is not covered under CPO and in order to find out what is wrong they would have to plug the car in to a computer at $150. I was told, best case scenario it is the module which could run $1100. Worst case scenario, it's the headlight assembly for $2200.

I ended up taking some other suggestions I read online, replacing the corner bulbs as sometimes condensation in the headlight triggers this code. Since it hasn't really come up again, I decided to wait before I give the dealership my money.

If the code continues, I may just find a shop that has the tools/resources to diagnose without having to pay $150.
