If I can manage that once I get her I'll be happy. Right now running e85 / flex it's more in the 13 or 14 mpg range and even when running 91 it's still barely 16 so if I can have fun and happen to get a tad better mileage then just an added bonus lol.

Just completed my 2000 mile trip in a G87. Getting approx 25 MPG on 80+MPH highways. It's a great road cruiser!

I have a 6 speed f22 with bootmod3 stage 1. I realize mine is b58 not s58, but they are both 3 litre engines. I get 25 plus every day driving. Is the m2 geared lower? What rpm are you turning at 70? 20%worse mileage? I can get 30 plus with cruise control on. Just like a new 240. Would be interesting what a bmw engineer says

On cruise control at 110km/h / 70mph our G87 M2 consumes 7.5 l/100km (31.4 US mpg), our 2017 F22 M240i used 7.0 l/100km (33.6 US mpg) on the same stretch of roads, so they aren’t too far apart when using a similar amount of cruising power. Should be able to get the M2 down to about 50 l/100km (4.7 US mpg) with hard track use, as I managed in our Z4M.

Just got 13.5 gallons in. Was down to 8 miles remaining. Unfortunately at a station that’s $4.899/gallon.

How are you guys measuring mpg? In the car, it shows me ~18 mpg when setting the odometer display to ‘miles since refueling’; and that’s with a ~50/50 split between sport (everything on sport mode, not sport+) and efficient (everything on lowest setting) engine mode usage. However on the BMW app, it states my consumption is 22 mpg. The mileage sample size is the same because I just received the car from the dealership. What is more accurate?

Anybody that has baby’d the car, what is your approximate mpg and range?

I don't baby my M2 but my spirited driving is limited. Car is very quick. Roads, traffic just don't lend themselves to my hooning around. Pretty much I give the engine the whip for a gear (manual transmission) or two when accelerating onto the freeway -- traffic permitting of course and it doesn't always -- but that's about it.

Using the individual fuel mileage display which I note after fill up then reset before leaving gas station, the last 3 fill ups:

21.8mpg
152.3 miles
7.063g (calculated MPG: 21.56)

22.1mpg
199.6 miles
8.881g (22.47)

23.5mpg
125.0 miles
5.555g (22.5)

By way of comparison my 2023 MINI JCW 6-speed last fill up:

26.4mpg
27.6mph (average speed)

I didn't note the miles driven or gallons of fuel required to fill up the tank.

I use both cars pretty much the same. The JCW occasionally gets unleashed a bit when accelerating up to speed entering a freeway but otherwise I just drive it normal.

Neither car gets the high miler treatment. Both cars have the auto stop/start disabled.

The M2 gas mileage ain't bad. My 2020 Scat Pack (6-speed manual) and my 2018 Hellcat (8 speed automatic) under the same usage here managed ~15mpg. My 2022 BMW 230i (8 speed automatic) bested the M2 -- no surprise -- and the JCW (a bit of a surprise) by a couple of mpg.

So compared to the Hellcat, Scat Pack, my M-B cargo van (empty as I just used it for a daily driver), the M2 does very well in the gas mileage department.

Pretty sure all things being equal an automatic equipped M2 would do better in the gas mileage department.

In the manual, are there options for efficient and sport engine modes? If so, then which do you enable?

Side note, I actually recommend using auto start/stop if you have a manual.

I usually hate auto start/stop, but it works well in the G87. In my experience it only stops the motor when you are not moving and in neutral, and it restarts the motor as soon as you start moving the shifter towards 1st gear.

As a result, the motor is running by the time you get into 1st, so it doesn't impede you at all. Save gas with no downsides? Yes, I will do that!

The downside of using start/stop to me is additional wear, that's all. That's why I don't use it. Good to know it doesn't affect driving.

That's fair. Most of the wear is on the starter, and modern starters are built for this. On the other hand, wear is still wear.

Since I drive with enthusiasm, and don't baby my sports cars, I already am resigned to breaking things on the car through wear. But that's just my personal opinion.

There is sport mode. I seem to recall seeing an efficient mode.

If there is an efficient mode I have never enabled it.

I never use Eco/Efficient modes. Also, I never use auto stop/start. I sometimes enable sport mode but I really don't like it too much as it makes the car a bit too hair trigger-ish at least for street use.

BTW, I checked miles per gallon since factory. At 3999 miles it was 20.9mpg.

Wanted to respond to your post again but this time with the correct info.

Here are my car's settings.

The first is just plain on engine on settings. I get in the car. Start the engine and these are the settings.

The 2nd is the settings in effect when I select the M1 button. I seldom select this.

The M2 button has not been configured yet.

It appears the M1 button settings are the same as the default settings. However, today when I was switching between default and M1 the exhaust note changed.

Next time I'm in the car I'm going to call up the M2 settings and play around with the settings just to get a sense of what change they make to how the car feels/drives.

This isn’t how you show your M1 settings.
You need to navigate to M1 so we can see all.
I presume your exhaust button is set to “off” when you get in, and in M1 you have it on. Which doesn’t change the exhaust note, just the sound you hear through the speakers, since your M1 is Efficient. We would also be able to see other options you selected for M1.

However, you’re wasting the M1 preset since you haven’t chosen anything different than what happens when you turn it on, and the exhaust button is also 1 click away on the console.

Didn't take a picture of the M1 settings, but yes I think the M1 button settings are the same as when I just turn the engine on with the exception the exhaust sound is enhanced.

I've just never felt a need to make any further changes to the settings. The car's pretty darn near perfect with the default settings although I think the rev match is not a default setting.

Gotcha. Rev Match is default (per your own picture) and exhaust button “remembers” the function you select, and you can change it with one click on the console button.
That’s what I was saying about you not using your M1/M2 buttons, which is fine since you don’t change the modes anyway when you drive. Even easier for you to enjoy it
