A household where 2 people work each earning £40k per year will pay less tax than a household where 1 person works earning £80k per year and the other stays at home looking after the kids.

I agree, when married it should be based on a combined income.

Inheritance tax is killer though, you pay tax all you life to buy the stuff, you then loose any tax benefits when retire as your classed as well off and then the government take a load of it again when you pass it on.
