Status Question
My car was just dropped off at port in the US, but the 1-800# says it is "at port waiting on a shipping vessel". Does this just mean it is waiting for a truck for transport? Seems odd because they use that same status for cars at port in Bremerhaven.

I may not be 100% on this but I believe its known that the BMW tracking status isn't the best. I know the online is worse than the phone status, but not sure how bad/inaccurate/delayed the phone status is.
How do you know it was dropped off at port in the US? Did your CA tell you, I'm sure he would have a better way of giving you an accurate status.

So if the phone number says awaiting a vessel and the phone is just a bit better than the online, how does the buyer know the car has been removed from the boat? Just asking to get an understanding...not to be critical...

My CA gave me the boat my car was on (Baltic Highway), which was at port in Charleston yesterday. My status had been "in transit", so I was expecting the next status to be "at the Preparation Center", so when I called, and it said "vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel" I was confused. It could just be a glitch, but was wondering if might just be how they describe the vehicle when it is waiting on transport to the performance center (I'm taking PCD on Aug. 30).

the best way to check the status after it gets on the boat is through the shipping line's tracking site. If it was on a W&W ship, put your VIN number in the tracking system and it will tell you when your car got on the ship, when it cleared customs and when it was released from the ship. Once my car got on the ship, I stopped using BMW's tracking services altogether.
Now after it gets released from the ship, it's stuck in the Bermuda triangle until it arrives at your dealership.....I was supposed to pick up today at the latest, and now I have no idea..... |

Well, my car was shipped through K-Line, so I wasn't able to track it using it's VIN. I do know it was on the Baltic Highway, which has already been to Baltimore, Brunswick, and Charleston. I assume it was dropped off at one of those locations, so I assume it is at the VPC. I just wondered why its status is now "at port awaiting a shipping vessel".
