Is it just me or is the wheel gap freakishly bad? I was looking at just lowering springs, but I’m seeing that using them with stock components is asking for trouble.

What’s the recommended setup? I have adaptive suspension, maybe that’s why it’s so high?

tires appear to not be an incorrect aspect ratio. what size are your tires?

you may do a mild lowering, such as eibach pro-kit springs and F80 bumpstops. this will minimally affect the damper lifespan.

18x8.5 et38 245/40/18 square, should be right according to apex

the tire size is correct. i guess the gap is giving the illusion the tire is a lot smaller. the right side gap looks ridiculous. not sure the eibach pro-kit will reduce the gap enough, but it will help some

I probably need to take better pics haha, is the eibach kit similar to the H&Rs everyone rave about?

Should I be considering a full coil over setup?

on our F3/4 series platform, i suggest Eibach over H&R this platform because it rides the best, addresses reverse rake and it's mildest lowering can work with stock dampers and should not reduce the lifespan appreciably.

as with any brand comparison, the pros and cons between different brands of springs, dampers and coilovers is very subjective.

if you get a non-adaptive coilover you will need to code out edc or get an edc delete kit. if you opt for an adaptive coilover KW DDC is what i'd suggest.

Yeah I’m tempted to go for an adaptive coil over, I’d like to keep that functionality. To be honest, until legit today during this convo when I rechecked my vin, I thought I didn’t have the adaptive lollll

What's your budget for the suspension upgrade project?

assuming your dampers are still good these are the Eibach Pro-Kit springs part numbers:

E10-20-031-02-22 if RWD
E10-20-031-05-22 if X-Drive

because suspension labor is a big part of the cost, you should also replace the strut mounts, spring seats, shock protectors and bump stops as these items are usually worn and torn as well.

Mine was stupid high too, I hated it. Seems to affect LCI cars more than pre-LCI. Your choice of 245/40 makes the gap look worse, as they are slightly shorter than 225/45.

Pics before and after-lowering. I'm on KW Comforts

I'm about to run into this same situation with new Aodhan AH11s and the same wheel and tire size.

If it's correct that we can run Eibach pro with stock non-EDC struts, that may be a route I go!

I'm on standard suspension too. Your avatar pic looks like you had 403m wheels, I'm curious why you changed them?

That wheel gap! I'm laughing with you, and hope you find a solution soon.

I’ve always loved and preferred arc 8s, even if they’re so overdone, and my old car had 18x8.5s on them, so it was a perfect swap over… I thought. And I was eager to get off run flats.

But now I’m kind of at a loss

They're spot on

You now need to lower it as you've suggested

This is my RWD F31 on Bilstein B4S shocks with Eibach pro kit springs; running all new Sachs top mounts all round with OEM BMW dust boots/bump stops etc - no need for F80 ones unless you go much lower

I have fitted all new suspension arms throughout as well; I did a FULL suspension overhaul

As it stands on its summer 18" 405Ms with 235/45/18 tyres:

Zero issues; zero rubbing even when fully loaded and handles superbly

Would highly recommend

In case you haven't seen it, there's a thread on the Eibach 05 springs that aloha mentioned above. Here's a 340iX on those springs paired with Koni SA shocks:
